Hey fellow Floridians, I'll be in Orlando next week with my family. I'm hoping to make a trip to Bass Central at some point - either on the way in (Tuesday) or on the way out (Saturday). I'll also be down the following week and may stop by there late morning as I won't be so pressed with time. That is, if anyone would care to meet and say 'hello'.

It's not really a search, it's just putting the time in. I have less than 6 months of serious practice under my belt. When I am at the point where I am looking for people to play with and maybe even start gigging, then I will start to seriously considering making a big purchase.

Even so, they let me try some basses. They knew that I wasn't going to buy anything that day, and when I started playing, they knew that I was not very good. But I was respectful of the instruments and the let me try a couple out. Their suggestion was a Sterling by Musicman 5 string, but I think that I will wait a little longer and get a Musicman Sterling 5 string. By the way, that is a horrible naming convention.

Understood. I too am still putting time in as you said. BTW, welcome to bass-dom, enjoy the journey. Having been blessed to acquire a nice custom fiver (and two inexpensive Washburns that sound practically as good as it) I really can't justify any more large purchases (but I am trying to complete a trade for a nice Bongo - but that's different). Still, another Dingwall would be nice, and a Status headless with LED's. It's just money, right? Maybe when my kids move out and I have some more disposable income.

Disposable income? I thought that was just a myth.

By the way, I just noticed that you are in Orange Park. That is not far from Starke, where I am.
