Haha! Hey sorry I've been MIA for a while. I don't get on here as much because I can only get on via the computer because the app on my phone hasn't been working. Please keep the numbers going if I dont keep up with it. Thanks!

I'm thinking about having an end of summer BBQ, tentatively Sat Aug 1. School starts Aug. 10 here then back to work and kids to school. I thought it would be cool to invite any TB brothers and sisters who are close or plan on being in the area around then. Nothing fancy, hang out and talk bass and get to meet each other or just stop by and say hi then take your significant other to downtown Saint Augustine for a night out. I also am a member of a bbq forum and members who are near each other get together and have a good time which is where I got the idea, I thought I would go out on a limb here and do the same. If anyone is interested pm me.

Update: Wife said we have a wedding to go to that day which I totally forgot about, I'll have to postpone this idea for another time. :-(

Thank you very much for the invitation, its much appreciated! I don't have my schedule in front of me but I work 2nd shift 3 out of 4 saturdays a month! Yeah I know I don't have a life anymore! I'm guessing being in Ft Myers its probably about 5 or so hours drive to get there! But St Augustine is my favorite city in Florida! Last time I was there in about 2002, my wife and I went on one of the many ghost walks they have there, and as I'm listening to the lady giving the tour I hears someone say my name! I turn around and its one of the guys I worked with who lived in Naples! Small world! That was the friendliest place I have been to in Florida! Going to a coffee shop in someones livingroom and sitting there listening to them tell stories was really nice! Your blessed to live there! Thanks again!

Very generous of you - I will also be watching my schedule, but I'm not sure how I'm going to convince my wife to a) go to a complete strangers place and, b) it's someone with whom I will be conversing about basses, etc. with! Lol, we'll see my friend.

Hi Guys, apologies for butting in on this club, but it seemed a good place to ask...
I'm in the Pompano Beach area for a week mid february (14th-24th, visiting my sister, and going to a Springsteen concert), with a few days down the Keys to follow.
Just wondering if there's any good open nights/bands playing?
Also any good stores for Bass gear?
Thanks in advance.

From Palm Beach down to Mami (Kendall) there 3 Sam Ashes(Margate, Miami Lakes and Kendall) and 3 GC's(Palm Beach, Hallandale Beach and Kendall) another good shop Is MAE in Fort Lauderdale. Space Music in North Miami Beach.

@MCS4 , 5 dollars for 5 bands sounds a great deal!
It might be a bit too heavy for my taste, but if I don't find anything else I'll surely drop in and say hi, thanks.

I'm pretty sure I've been in MAE a couple of years back and bought a couple of EHX pedals, so I will probably visit again. Glad to hear there's a few stores about, although from what I've read on TB, GC isn't too popular.

Please take a look at our blues calendar. If you dig blues, this is what's going on in South Florida.

Wow, that is a great list (and organisation) - you guys must really love your Blues in Florida !

There's definitely a few cool-looking nights there - The Flyers in Ft Lauderdale and The Honey Island Swamp Band in Key West I think might just fit my plans nicely!

Moving to Florida - where is best for gigging?

Looking at moving to Florida: Orlando, tampa area, Miami, etc... I have some freedom on what area - what is the best area for gigging bands, lotsa clubs booking, etc? I'll be looking to jump in with a local band... what area is the most live-music active? Thoughts from local working bassists?
