Tomika, what are the woods used in your Emperor II? I really like the tone of that bass.
A little archive photo... hmmm... yummy![]()
Any chance you can mock up a Monarch 6? Here's what we're looking at:
Monarch 6, 35" scale
Walnut body, Ash heel-block
Quilted Ash top (non-solid)
Maple neck
Asian Ebony fingerboard w/ pearl dots
Dual coil pickups
Asian Ebony pup covers (no holes), truss cover and backplate
Thx!
Aloha, Garey
I thought I've seen your Bona Bass some weeks after you've recived it on ebay ....
I think... that's not mine! ;-) I never used e-bay...
(I sold a German guy ca 2 years ago...)
steubig- yes, exactly! that's an older lawrence pup.
The "hardest" ?
Are they wound on round or hex core?![]()
Anthony's are round core. I meant that his set is the most difficult to make...
La Bella and Fbass also make exposed core strings also. Just so you know. I think La
Bella actually makes the Fbass strings though. I have an Fbass and I use Fbass strings
on it. I really like the feel of the exposed core strings. They feel like trampolines under
your fingers. Very flexible and have a great sound too.
I'm interested to see how the AJ strings are. Glad to see the exposed core design is
catching on.
I'm not 100% sure about the La Bella strings. I think the only difference between the
Fbass strings and the La Bella's is that the Fbass strings have a custom gauge size to
them. The Fbass strings are round core. I'm guessing the exposed core La Bella's are
the same.
The Fbass strings are all exposed except for the C string and up for the extended range
basses. The B,E,A,D,and G strings are all exposed. The C and up strings are regular
because George Furlanetto (owner of Fbass) doesn't want his high strings sounding thin.
That's also why he does the 34.5 inch scale basses.
It will be interesting to see if the AJ strings have an exposed C string.
Yeah they are called the super steps.
I just looked at my Fbass strings and I think they might be hex core too.
I guess they are both hex core. My bad.
Yeah that makes sense.
Who is helping you with your custom gauges?
What and why custom gauges?
