Hey lamarjones, I just had a fodera imperial delivered a couple weeks ago, and Jason was on board for the last couple months. I can tell you that Jason is a great guy and will keep you totally informed with your bass, you won't regret working with him.

After a series of interesting events (and hopefully doing the right thing by the fodera family), I am back in the queue again. Talked with Jason about a 'dream bass' and actually honed in on what it would be. Basically a walnut topped emperor elite II, that really would be one of the basses that is on my all time WOW list.
In order to use it, I wanted it to be as light as possible, and I know this comes up as a topic here occassionally. All I can say is, I am sure I'll be fine with the tone so I don't have a lot of reason to not try and spec something that wouldn't yield something pretty light. I am going for a chambered alder body which is hopefully lightweight in the first place, maple neck and 'dark' old growth rosewood board, 34" scale. I think SD vintage singles and the pope pre are also on deck. Lately, my preferred sound has been single coils running into a j-retro deluxe, I have a bass with fralin singles and another bass with Nordstrand big singles running into the j-retro deluxe and I have just been really comfy with that setup. but I think the pope pre should be a nice touch. Question, do you guys feel any of the dual coils can nail the single coil J sound when set to one coil?
Anyways, I will be trying to put this out of my mind for a while, but I will say that I have a little more faith in scheduling these days with Fodera. Actually, even though I didn't feel like I got a straight answer in the past, I didn't mind knowing that the guys doing the work are true artists and I personally don't like to rush artists, and I have gigged enough to know that I don't get real logical answers from a lot of artists eitherRegardless, I have gotten some straight answers after talking with Jason that panned out, and also I REALLY dig the fact that the guys doing the work are doing just that, and all the other stuff is being handled by equally capable hands.
Just like a band, great player rarely make good managers. And dang if you don't need a good manager!
