Funny, this is the way I originally though of this piece and at the last minute, Vinny and I swapped it around to the other direction...we were really, really torn and I kept coming back to it and really do like it better this way...Thanks for the mock up!!!!!

Now I don't feel so guilty about waffling a little. We're still on for the spalt. I think.

Folks, do NOT feel guilty about "waffling" when selecting your tops or, as in my case, even a layout within a given top. We sometimes spend hours trying to find the right top to meet a customer's request only to do it all over again and again and...again!

Thus far since October, I think the record has been 8 person hours worked to select one top (includes merely finding the wood, cutting it, bookmatching, layout, photographs and discussion -- NOT anything related to glue-up or carving)! The bass ended up being flat out gorgeous, but we went through no less than 10 iterations of how the top would look...

The sick thing? It was fun and I'd do it all over again tomorrow. One lesson, however, next time you wonder why Foderas cost what they do? We WANT to be able to do stuff like that and still keep the lights on! ;)

I can feel the fun even with the top photoshopping.. can't imagine if I can do it in the shop with actual material......:D

Jason, one question.. is that possible to select body and fretboard?? just a thought.

We have had folks that actually want to come to the shop and work with us to tap test the various possible pieces of wood that will be turned into their bass and try to accommodate it within reason, however, we only do it by appointment and there is a small charge for doing it...

Great photo! I'm more of an Emperor fan as well but I, too, see the attraction of the Monarch shape.

For the Fodera Faithful...

By tomorrow morning you should be able to see the basses that we will be bringing out to NAMM here:

Just an FYI (because I know you will ask)...all of the new basses were built as part of the schedule that we implemented in the late summer, so that all dates customers were given included the building of these basses (which have been in process since June).

Also, all of the Certified Pre-Owned Basses have had any and all finish issues dealt with, the new Pope/Fodera Pre-Amp installed, any necessary fretwork tended to and have had a complete set-up. They are also backed by a Warranty (details on the Fodera website). Essentially they look and function like new instruments with the added benefit that they have the sound that only comes from seasoned instruments...

is there going to be a section of the website for that? i've looked recently and haven't seen anything.
