I swapped out my 19mm bridge for a 17mm for the heck of it, and the excess really wasn't that bad. Didn't bother me as far as playing though it did look a bit strange. That being said, the 19mm is back on.

Year 2000 Emperor Elite, Buckeye Burl, mahogony body, crazy rosewood board with abalone blocks, duncan jazz pickups, 35 inch scale

I've owned probably 20 Fodera's, this is the best sounding and playing one by far. It amazingly has a killer thick Marcus like thumb tone (not expected with the rosewood board). B string is massive all the way down to a low A. Unfortunately the B strings on all my 34 inch scale Fodera's lacked the same girth. I also think jazz pickups in the Fodera's might be the way to go for my taste.

Thanks for the video link. Even if I like product presentations - those Fodera 'experts' should know what they say before publishing something wrong out into the world. The VW has no neckthrough design and no 'passive' mode...

By the way: If I try to open the pricelist or other documents on the Fodera site my display gets a dark haze but doesn't show any of the docs. I'm using Internet Explorer 8 with Windows PC. Is that only my problem ?

No, I had same problem, must be a plugin failing or something. I tried with Firefox, and that works fine.

why does (after the new Price List) the Monarch and the Emperor which always have been the "cheaper" models now do cost the same as the Imperial or Imperial II ???

I just don't get it ..... maybe a write error ?

Don't know that answer, but have you seen the new 4 string Namm Emperor being sold for a price of $11,500? I might be wrong, but I'm guessing a 4 string Emperor might not sell for that much. Then again, Fodera has always risen their prices with only continued demand. Makes me feel like I got my Emperor Elite for a steal compared to new prices. I wish instead of buying stock 10 years ago I bought every Fodera I could get my hands on. I still remember my first Fodera, Imperial 5 string with chestnut top, ebony board, for a whopping $2800 used.

Custom Fodera basses range from $6249 to $9499. The prices are lower for bolt-ons, higher for dovetails, and higher still for neck-thrus. The prices also increase based on the number of strings. It seems fairly logical, based primarily on how much time and work it takes to create each bass. The Artist Series basses are so expensive, I can't even think about that. (ranging from $8249 to $19,999, plus options that can add many $1000's more).
