I've seen this bassist on youtube. Awesome player. The bass looks amazing as well. Can the presentation shape be ordered in 4/5 strings?

Fodera gotta stop tempting me with that new Emperor Standard
I'm really being tempted by that dual coils 5 strings to get that Anthony Wellington/Richard Bona's ''JB-like'' tone on a confort and a beauty of a Fodera
I guess you got something like that on a Bolt-on Standard Emperor
Since I bought my first used Fodera Monarch Deluxe, I'm pennyless
Here's a picture taken from the previous owner of my actual Fodera
I do not own anything else in that pics, I'll try to post pics taken by me later (when actually the bass will be in my hands
it's just in my home, but not yet in my hands, because I shipped it to my parent's in Belgium as it was already in Europe, and I happen now to be overseas)

Yeah that's Steve Rosati from the Philly area, cool cat and great player. I think that he still teaches out of Bass Specialities. He is on TB from time to time.

The Presentation Shape (without the carved top) can be ordered in any string configuration...

If one were to order a Presentation shape without the carved top and chambering, how would that be priced? Because it wouldn't be an AJ Presentation anymore, correct?

That bass was my first Fodera. Awesome! So light and amazing punch. Enjoy it

I was supposed to write to Laura at Fodera today to have her find out how close my YY Deluxe is to completion...but I didn't. I guess I can ask next week...hoping that the answer is that it's REALLY close
I contacted him too on this, here is a pic of the headstock he sent me,

Originally the Monarch 4 was built by USA Custom Guitars... I worked there for 5 years... We built the original 60-70 Monarch Bodies and necks for Vinny Fodera... It was their first bolt on trying to keep it under 8 Grand.... I was the one in charge of sanding the bodies and doing the fretboard work... However, at some point our CNC operator Andy left and no one else knew how to run the necks and bodies on the CNC... So I built a custom one for myself... It doen't have the Fodera logo or a serial #.... It's completely custom, and I've had it for years but I'm between jobs and need the cash..."
I had always thought the old Monarch standards were built in small batches to keep the cost down?

I wonder if fodera might just eventually make the majority of their basses standards like the yy and new emperor just because of how more efficient and economically viable it is??
I doubt they are really doing it to make money though and the fact that you can customize a bass is what separates them from normal brands like fender and stuff

Exactly the same as any Elite model...no premium for that shape (without the carved top and chambering)...

Based on what I know, and it WAS before my time, there are a lot of liberties in taken in his description. There were 24-36 Monarch Standards that were machined at that shop, however, they were returned to Fodera for final carving, sanding, finishing, etc.
Vinny and Joey historically tried numerous things like this in an effort to help increase production and not be so far behind. At the end of the day none of them ever panned out. It is just impossible to get the same level of quality when you do not control EVERY step of production. That has been one of my main focuses...bringing ALL production in house so that we control everything. By way of example, the E5S will be COMPLETELY built here in Brooklyn and all YYS beginning with #91 on will also be completely Brooklyn born...
Calling a bass put together from parts pulled from a parts bin and calling it a Fodera when it was never even in the Brooklyn Shop and worked on by Joey and Vinny is a pretty large liberty IMHO...

Our plan is to keep the Custom Shop production stable at current levels and build roughly 120-150 Standards per year over the next several years...

hey Jason and the great Fodera folks-
hope the Bass Day H'wood was astounding this year! By all indications, it was one of the best ever.
i woulda been there in a heartbeat, but gigged that weekend with the ISC ensemble, an amazing hybrid chamber music group-
"Grail" the mighty 6 was well represented in Bach's Brandenburg 5, Debussy's Des Pas nur la Neige, and a great improv duet with master Latin percussionist Javier Diaz. Grail lay beautifully within the orchestral textures like a subterranean deux ex machina.
Looking forward to visiting the shop soon. It's been way too long!

The folks at Bass Player do a really, really great job with that event. Joey and I had a blast. A touch of low frequency overload, but hey, its all good. Met lots of great people, heard some great players and got to talk bass for 2 days straight...what's better than that?!?
