The folks at Bass Player do a really, really great job with that event. Joey and I had a blast. A touch of low frequency overload, but hey, its all good. Met lots of great people, heard some great players and got to talk bass for 2 days straight...what's better than that?!?

Looking forward to seeing you!!!

J

hey Jason and the great Fodera folks-
hope the Bass Day H'wood was astounding this year! By all indications, it was one of the best ever.

i woulda been there in a heartbeat, but gigged that weekend with the ISC ensemble, an amazing hybrid chamber music group-

"Grail" the mighty 6 was well represented in Bach's Brandenburg 5, Debussy's Des Pas nur la Neige, and a great improv duet with master Latin percussionist Javier Diaz. Grail lay beautifully within the orchestral textures like a subterranean deux ex machina.

Looking forward to visiting the shop soon. It's been way too long!
be well joe g

Very cool!

It is REALLY close...

J

Jason,

Thanks for the update :hyper: Now I don't have to bother Laura.

I really wish I had taken the time to go to the Bass Live thing in LA. I hadn't even thought of it until that Saturday morning, and I could have made the trip...it's only 4 hours or so to get there from here. Seeing in particular how much you thought of it, I'm sorry I didn't go. It would have been really cool to visit with you Fodera folks!

Here's a question for all of you Fodera experts. I plan to put flatwounds on my YY Deluxe. Any thoughts on that? I haven't seen much discussion about strings on these basses, and I have fallen in love with flats on my Jazz Bass. I'm certain there is no technical issue with having them on a Fodera, just wondering if you have experience with tone and flatwounds.

I'm sure it will sound great. Just about everything related to my YYD I am thrilled with. I personally haven't put flats on mine because it is such a great slapping bass and I don't want to lose that. But... Give it a try. If you don't like it you only have to change the strings. No biggie.

um, yeah, it'll sound badass. i have some flats on both fretted and fretless fodera 6-string basses.

Why not FedEx them to us at the shop so we can do the complete set up for you bass withe the actual strings that use...

J

Correct address. Send them to my attention:

Jason DeSalvo

2nd day might hold up setting up your bass by a day or two...but that's your call!

J

Great thought! :hyper: I didn't know if you'd do that or not. If I send them say, second day air via UPS, with that work? Should I send to this address:
Fodera Guitars
68 34th Street, 3rd Floor
Brooklyn, NY 11232

To anyone's specific attention?

Thank you, sir!
