you said your top was selected 4 years ago ?

My one was selected 3 years ago ;) :D

"The last Chestnut Tops"

by Fodera Guitars

main role : Vinny Fodera : the magician and keeper of the wood

Joey Lauricella : The heartbreaker

and the hungry mob (which is us :D)

Yes, thanx! It's a good movie title: The last Chestnut top :D

What a nice bass! I saw it at the shop about 3 weeks ago. Looking forward to hearing you play it also....

Ya, I got a full chestnut top on order also (ordered one year ago) so there are a VERY few still left according to what Jason showed me...and now only one full- top after mine ( a real nice one).

I would not have thought 4-5 years before, my top will be rare...

I quote the Chestnut Newborn's Text:

"We are coming down to our very last Chestnut tops here at Fodera...sadly when they are all used they will be gone forever as every single Chestnut topped Fodera came from just one tree (yes, we bought the entire tree)."

Does that mean that there won't be any Chestnut tops in future ?
So Fodera does not buy any new Chestnut tree ?! :bawl:

Very cool, Mike!

Could you post a pic of your current bass with the new bridge on it? I've been anxious to see that bridge since I first read about it.

Thanks!

Never posted pics before. Easy.

yes ;)

actually the title should be like this :

"The last Chestnut Tops"

by Fodera Guitars

main roles :

Vinny Fodera : the magician and keeper of the wood

Joey Lauricella as The heartbreaker

Jason DeSalvo as the fairy Godmother

and the hungry mob (which is us:D )

:D;)
I think I would cast Jason as the Wizard. The fairy Godmother thing really doesn't work for him.. Maybe Holly as the fairy Godmother....

We'd love to, but have never found any with remotely the same figure as in the one that we did buy...

What are the real differences between this and the former bridge on this bass.
Is the material different?
The "mechanism" looks pretty much the same standard bridge kind of thing.:)

I don't know about the materials. I assume they are both brass.

The mechanism is very similar. I think the main differences are:
1) This bridge has a much greater mass than the last one.
2) The bridge saddles on the old one had to be cranked WAY up to get high enough for where I wanted it. This one provides ENOUGH break angle/downbearing while sitting in the middle of the adjustment range which, for whatever reason, seems to work a lot better. Either way, the sound is less "thuddy" than it was. Noticeably so.
