Guys...the bass is everything I had hoped and more. The Mahogany did what it was supposed to. It gave it EVEN response throughout and a neutral enough tone that moving the PU can completely push the bass in any direction you want. The moving PU works extremely well. It was designed by Scott Ecelberger for me. His work is world class. Worked on serious aerospace mechanical stuff. Heavy dude.

The moving PU thing is actually about the coolest thing I've ever heard. Since the Mahogany doesn't go too far one way or another, moving the PU can make very subtle but fundamental changes to the tone, or it can TOTALLY CHANGE THE ENTIRE PERSONALITY of the instrument. It's really scary.

It balances perfectly, and the neck is SO sexy in shape. The removable fingerboard comes in and out really easily, and the ebony is a as black and luscious as anything I've ever seen.

I can't tell you how absolutely perfectly this bass nails everything I hoped it would. It can do SO much that no other bass I've ever played can do. Vinny, Joey, and Jason really outdid themselves this time.

Very glad that the bass is working out so well for you, Mike. The unity that you and the Fodera crew share in the vision for this instrument is very apparent. Can't wait to hear more about it!

Mike, I am very excited about this bass. I think it is just brilliant.

There is so much to be excited about, the removable finger board extension, the movable bridge pickup...

But I'm also quite jazzed about the B string's peg. Since I'd be inclined to get this bass at 34 inch scale length, seeing that up there gives me every assurance that B is strong sounding and tight playing.

With the excitement of NAMM and the new models, I almost forgot to ask about this.

First, that is one great looking Fodera you've got there. It is extremely appealing to me and just the kind of bass I'm sure I'd go nuts over.

So, how do we go about checking out the new album? I'd love to hear this bass in action.

Honestly? Really, really expensive for what it is, and kind of a marketing disaster given features per price range (a la the Monarch Standards, of which this is pretty much the same thing).

When the cost of the regular basses is so high, making a stripped down version that is competitive with the other instruments in the same $5000 price range is REALLLLLY tough. Do people really choosing between a basement, bare-bones Fodera against a loaded Ken Smith (or name other luthier here)? Because they cost the same.

That said, I'm sure these will sell out.

I was expecting an all new body shape and bass type. So a little bit of a bummer for me. I guess with all the hype I figured it would be more than a "cheap" version of an already existing bass. But I'm sure they will be popular, if anything Jason seems to be doing wonders for the business side of Fodera.

Is this really the "mystery bass, that the hype was all about?
I personally am not impressed whatsoever.Too many builders seem to offer more at this pricepoint and may be hard to compete with when looking at this specific bass.
But...a V.W model is unique to Foderaif I am not mistaken so I guess V.Wooten fans will probably like it.

I'm curious on the decision to go with the flat headstock and the truss rod adjustment at the base of the neck. Cost savings no doubt.

Trying to figure out the differences between the standard Yin-Yang and the custom Yin-Yang. Looks like:

Different Fodera/Pope Preamp and controls
Painted symbol on body & headstock rather than two pieces of wood
Flat vs angled headstock
Bolt on vs Dovetail neck
Pearloid vs Ebony/Mother of pearl inlays
No fingerboard extension to the symbol
1 piece vs 3 piece maple neck
Cost: $4750 list vs $12500 list
