Jason, Vinny, Joey, Rob, Vadym and the rest of the folks worked with me to make the best of extremely rough situation. To give you an idea, I ordered this bass 4yrs ago.

Hi Tom, and fellow TB's. This is my first posting. I have the sister piece of walnut to your bass and it's currently specced as a Matt Garrison 6. After seeing your bass I realised that the Garrison pick-up/ramp configuration, might come at the cost of losing some of the best detail from the top i.e the crown of ringlets between neck-end & pick-up.

Q1. Did this have any influence in your choice of pick-up configuration and what was your shortlist of woods for the back?
I'm thinking of staying with walnut or maybe even Koa. (does anyone know what type of Koa that is on face of the latest Imperial 6 elite in the newborns) I'm hoping Jason will see this before heading off on holiday, I hope it's not to the UK...

The pickup position was the second key element of this instrument. I have always been a p player and that position is what feels and sound "right" to me.

Like Jason I am heading out for vacation.

Looks real interesting!
Since you mention the pick up position...
Where is that position?
( which harmonic do you get when you pinch right above the front row of pole pieces on, say, the A string?)
Are there sound samples on line somewhere?

Good questions. Like you, I have a ton of questions I'd love to ask, but I sense Toms wife screaming at him to get the sunscreen packed and shut down that laptop. We'll just have to wait a few weeks..

On a personal note, I will be scarce on TB until the end of August...I am headed away with my family for vacation until the 28th. I will miss you all and look forward to reconnecting upon my return!!

Dave,

My sincerest condolences. This Olive is a fitting and worthy tribute indeed. I'd love to hear a sound sample, whenever, or if at all that's possible.
