The spec's are Chambered Ash body, Alder heel block with a Walnut accent stripe, BRW 26 fret f/b, 35" scale Maple 'thin/fast' neck, 6 string 17.5mm spacing, SD dual coils in matching Olive covers, 70's spacing.

I see you are just up the road from me in Kingston. We were there in June for the Rideau Lakes bicycle tour.

I would like to do Rideau Lakes - but it makes much more sense if you don't live in Kingston (I am sure you will know what I mean). I would love to see your Olives at some time. Olive is my favorite facing wood and the picture from the spray booth is stunning. There are many things I could say about the figure in the wood and the choices that have been made - but the way the wood grain matches the profile of the top horn (is that the right word?) is just magic.

Hi all,

Just a quick heads-up. I'm thinking possibly of trading my Presentation for the right Fodera 5. It's without doubt the finest instrument I've ever touched but I'm simply not a six string player and, as a result, it never gets played.

I'd be looking for a five string Chestnut single cut (34 or 35" only) plus the appropriate amount of cash.

I've owned and played a mountain of amazing basses including hundreds of Foderas -- You will not find a better instrument anywhere.

Just thinking out loud here. It's entirely possible I'll hold onto it as I've always sworn I would. I just thought I'd mention here while I mulled it over a bit.

  • Carved Bubinga top
  • Brazilian board
  • Ash wings
  • Ash heel block
  • Duncan dual coils
  • 36" scale

The wood certainly looks like no oak we have ever seen, so we have dubbed it "Bogwood." And yes, it is pretty darn "sick!" Like Buckeye and Chestnut, it is very light in weight and acts more like a neutral tonal filter than a true tone wood...that is, it allows the tone of the underlying build materials to shine through without coloring them.

well it's definitely some form or rotten wood like spalted maple and it looks like it's burled.

The grain is incredible though.
