I decided on oak based on listening to my friend Michael Wilcox's fretless Imperial II 6 string, and Vinnie's recommendation. As I mentioned in a previous post, Michael was kind enough to let me ship his bass to the shop to duplicate his neck profile.

I can't wait to see this bass in the Newborn section too! 8^)

So will this bass being "archtop" styled, have a sound hole? That would look incredible... :hyper:

Ben - no sound hole. I didn't want to deal with the possibility of acoustic feedback. One of my goals for this bass was to create a resonant body that would influence the overall sound of the instrument. Of course, this project wouldn't be possible without Vinnie's guidance and enthusiasm.

Will there be a sound post for the bridge or will the wings just be hollow?

Wayne,

When you have some time, would you be able to post about the influences behind this instrument and what objectives you had in-mind while conceiving it? It's very unique and it would be cool to hear why you went the way you did.
