Whoa you've had alot of basses. I'm slotted for production summer of 2012....sigh :)

I had a Ken Bebensee that was 36' scale, maybe a dozen different 35' scale basses, pedulla and yamaha 34' and my yamaha is 33 7/8 scale.

It's just so highly, highly personal...one person's tight authoritative B-string is another person's mushy mess.

That said, if you don't need the short scale length, by all means jumping to 34" will improve the B as will jumping to 35" and then again to 36". It is really a question of your personal playing style and needs...

AJ's spacing is 19.0 mm edge-to-edge, whereas unless you specifically ask for it, we will build basses and set them up center-to-center.

Lincoln uses his 34" scale for recording and travels with his 33" scale...

I seem to remember reading somewhere that his travel bass is a 33" version of his main instrument, tuned B-G.
So finding a live video of him might give some idea as to the B on a short scale instrument.

#1 went to Texas. #3 belongs to ??? Can't say at this time. I believe it will be on the Newborn page later this fall. If the person wishes to make public he is the owner, we will all know.

To those in the Fodera family..

Have any of you ordered a Garrison with the body enlarged as opposed to reducing the overall body dimensions? I know the Garrison is on the small side compared to the Imperial, for example. A larger body like the size of an Imperial would be better than a smaller size, on me.

I'm not sure if its that. I could be wrong but I thought the Imperial ( MG shape) in the newborns were basses that do have the MG dimensions but are called Imperials as opposed to MGs because they dont have other MG features like extended fretboard, 33 scale, maybe layout?

Its a good point though to clarify so we know what we are looking at...

We honestly are not sure what this wood really is, only that we have gotten a very small parcel of it and when we bought it, we were told that the wood was "Black Oak that came from a Bog." The wood certainly looks like no oak we have ever seen, so we have dubbed it "Bogwood." And yes, it is pretty darn "sick!" Like Buckeye and Chestnut, it is very light in weight and acts more like a neutral tonal filter than a true tone wood...that is, it allows the tone of the underlying build materials to shine through without coloring them.
