Both of them. The 540 has about 190k on it and the 740 has 225k. Love 'em!
Racking up some serious Bimmer miles Mike! Any major repairs (i.e. drivetrain) getting them near the 200K mark?

Different woods, different electronics, etc. I had a lot of history to catch up on and what a perfect way to do it by seeing it, feeling it and playing it...

Any news on the PLEK process for current owners? I am really interested in sending mine in. I had my YYS shipped to me tuned down to E# with a larger gauge string set and have switched back over to the VW nickel strings and have now tuned up to standard E. I had the setup done by a local guy that didn't quite (by a long shot) match up to the original setup she came with. I have modified his setup but it still is not where I would really like it to be and would love to have you guys do it properly!

they should easily do it to 250-280k in the end - even more. Also I bet you're driving automatic gearbox in your cars - so no risk here
A car that has a manual gearbox and is driven by females does not have that life expectancy (or only with several gearbox surgeries) ...LOL
oh and does your gear fit in there ??? I find it hard even getting a single 112 Epifani in the trunk of a Mercedes.... ok the BMW 7 is a ship but the BMW 5...?

Only had to replace one part.....the engine!
It was sort of my fault, though. I got in there to do a timing chain repair (which I'd done before succesfully) and there wound up being some other insideous stuff going on that was beyond the scope of my tools and expertise to diagnose. Rather than pay an expert a premium which could have really racked up, I ended up cutting my losses and putting a used motor in it.
I've had to do tranny's on both. Count on that job needing to be done on a late 90's/early 2000's V8 by the low 200k's. The tranny's are light. But up to 98, the tranny's were way stronger.

Let me chime in here and say that I've had a number of guitars Plek'd (4-5 years ago) and the process is beyond outstanding! I can't believe that Fodera actually NEEDS one, as what comes out of the shop is, in my experience, as close to perfect as possible, but if I'm not mistaken, the laser on the Plek measures down to .001". I saw that Jason mentioned it is a machine, and it is, it's not magic, but in the hands of a user who knows what they're doing, it's LIKE magic... I've seen images of a 'before' and 'after' of fretboards on my guitars, and, well, it's almost stupefying.
So....now...a Plek'd Fodera....has got to be as close to nirvana as a bass can get

Very cool news about the Plek'ing business! Whenever my Emperor needs a setup again, I will certainly be taking it down to the BK(believe the hype!) and letting the guys and the machine do their collective magic. Right now I'm still enjoying the setup Joey did on it, which is outstanding!

Is there a certain string height that the set up can't go below once the bass is PLEK'd? So, if you like Extremely low action you don't have to sacrifice that comfort for the Plek setup?

God no, as seriously low as we can get our stuff to play, you can actually go even lower after they've been Plek'd. I set all of mine up at 3/64's" between the G-string and the fret...that's pretty darn low....
