I wouldn't say beneficial. It may produce a different sound. I feel that the closer to the nut, the more downward force, the more the string resonates with the bass itself. Same goes for the bridge. But I'm no expert haha
That was my rationale for going with 3+2 on my Viceroy-shape (well, that and the fact that I prefer 3+2 for convenience). The primary rationale for the extended B is apparently longitudinal vibration. I still have to believe that the longitudinal vibration is going to be heavily damped by the nut. But then again ...

Looks like you might have enough room to run your B string to the E string tuner. Why not try it and see if you notice a difference?

I know, but there are two reasons why I'm not going to do it.
A. It would serve no purpose, and
2. I'm too lazy.
Then there is a third, unforeseen reason.
C. I don't care whether it makes a difference.
Say I did it, and it sounded hella better. What am I going to do? Nothing. Just live with my semi-sucky sound because I got 3+2.

Since I'm not shy about self-promotion, we re-tooled nostatic and went sparse last night: vox, sax, bass, drums. For Fodera content, it is an interesting sonic counterpoint between MGS and YYD. Some ragged moments as we only had one rehearsal and had a bunch of new and rearrange material. But I liked the space, as did the crowd.

Elanor and Sugar are the YYD. Can't Get What You Want, Tea and Valentine are MGS. Fragile is banjo (!). I still have a ton of 'shedding that needs to be done on comping with a bass line (and everything else for that matter).

That AJ6 is gorgeous. Funny, I thought that the use of a single magnet for the C-string was a more recent innovation, but I guess it's been around longer than I thought.
