I love Christian's fretless, sounds great and was just what I expected. I haven't heard Oteil's 6 all that much and it also kills.
Makes me want to own two more Fodera's like theirs.
Always interesting to hear these guys talk as well. I had the pleasure of studying with McBride on several occasions earlier in my career and it really helped. He's very positive and easy going.
What fabulous musicians and great instruments.
+1 - Often get very positive comments about my WW/Epi UL210 combination. Subjective and personal it may be but seems to please a lot of people. Use just a UL210 most of the time but can get plenty of low end with just a hint of bass boost on the Fodera. Exceptional meaty projection on outdoor gigs too.... Have an additional UL115 for serious situations but almost never need it...

I think Tommy still uses a little short scale Italian electric for fretless. He's had it for years and years. Little tiny, crappy bass that just sounds awesome.
That was great! Thanks for posting. I hadn't heard McBride's Fodera yet, and I've been curious about it for a while. He really makes that thing sing!

Yep, Indian rosewood and I think rosewood on the headstock. Ash neck, ash body, flamed maple tone block. For sale on Fodera's website as CPO.
I don't think so. The grain pattern looks different. Also the one Felix was using had fb inlays and was a 33" scale, this one is stated as a 34" scale. It's real nice though!!
I'm really curious about the tone of that one since it has an ash neck with an ash body.

This is exciting to see another topless fodera, my current build will be without a top but either alder or mahogany body (there have been some really beautifully striped mahogany bodies coming out lately)
On another note, I just picked up Damian's MGS so I can see if I like the mg shape and the 33" scale as I'm leaning toward a 33" scale mg shape inspired build in a 4 string. Excited to see how my hands like it.

I was looking around on the Emperor standards and one thing I keep on seeing, the latest basses have less detail Bi-Color 5A Flame Maple Top as the first 50 did. The once on Bass central they are hard to see the flames.
It seems to vary in intensity from bass to bass. Which is fine with me - makes for a more unique experience. Mine is from the first batch but has very little contrast in the top. There's a great figuring going on in the peghead though!

Nope, same concept -- an "Essence" bass, but with different specs. This one is 34" scale...
