Fodera Club Part XVIII

Hey all. First off, I have to give a huge thank you to the guys at Bassgear.co.uk! Barrie and Phil have been amazing getting this bass to me from the UK in just a few days. They are extremely knowledgable, friendly, responsive and just a great group to talk to and work with. It's been over 6 years since I last held and owned a Fodera and these cats made it happen. The bass arrived perfectly and I couldn't be happier. They have a slew of used Fodera's over there and if you get a chance, go check them out.

Now, onto my new used AJ5... This thing sounds like the hand of God by the way. It's a little heavy, but not as bad as I was expecting. I'm going to say low 11's... I'm used to playing my 10.2lb Sadowsky, so this isn't that bad of an adjustment. Anyway. Here she is before and during my "wipe her down" session.

Vic. No worries. When I first fell in love, it was listed around 4950 GBP which is about $6400 USD. IMO, even at that price, I felt like I would've gotten a smokin' deal. If you're really interested, PM me and I'll tell you the price I paid. ;)

Agreed, and I won't even ask, but I'll just say this anyway, because I trust you got a great deal just by your even saying this much. :)

I'm in Alexandria most Saturday mornings for rehearsal, if I don't finish too early I stop by Jive Sound. I'm getting ramps made for my AJ6 and Surine Homage NTIII 5 tomorrow, might use the AJ6 this week.

I really shoulda' waited until my build was closer to being done before subscribing to this thread. The last 7 months or so on mine are gonna' be painful reading this club down. Maybe I'll unsubscribe for a while. :)

Barrie here :)

I work part time at the store and try to help managing all the incoming emails. It's always a pleasure dealing with someone as enthusiastic as you!

To be honest, all three of us that work at BassGear UK are players and enthusiasts. We love what we do and we're often like little kids in a candy store - You should see us leaping around whenever a new bass arrives or looking sad when we sell something we all really like.

Of course, it's lucky we love it because there's not exactly much money to be made in instrument retailing these days, lol

If anyone wants to contact me here then that's fine - always happy to chat about all things bass :)

Looking forward to seeing some pics of this bass out where it belongs on a gigging stage!

Barrie. Good to hear from you on here. I can't stress enough how pleasureable my buying experience was with you guys.

Luckily, I have two gigs this week/weekend, so hopefully I can get a few pics to send you. But for now, this is all I got.

I spent a few hours this afternoon with Jason, Vinny and Joey at Fodera and had a great time. What a great bunch of people..... they really make you feel like family. Joey didn't even flinch at my literally dozens of questions as he set up a couple of Emperor 5ers and Jason answered even more of my dumb questions.

With Joey and Jason's help, I have very likely locked down my final build.... ETA Feb/Mar 2014:

Monarch 5, light mahogany body with deeper cutout on treble side, wicked walnut top, ebony board with no inlays (Joey may have saved me some $$$ on this as i had ordered abalone inlays;)), SD dual coils, black hardware and a 3+2 headstock config.

I am super pumped to say the least.:hyper:

Thanks to Jason and team for being such great hosts today!

I will post a few pics when I get grounded.
