Christian I meant to ask you about the 16.5mm spacing. I know you're digging it. Is it really that crazy of a jump coming from 19mm? And is it more difficult to slap?

I can slap on a 16.5 mm. Also on the 17.5 mm Emperor. I feel fine. I never really played that many 19 mm 5 string so I might not be the person to tell that. Go try a musicman. I believe they are 17 mm.

I can slap from 16.5 - 20mm spacing without problem.

I had 15mm on my Alembic, but I just couldn't get into it's sound, so it's gone. You could slap on it.

The white wire with two leads is both the positive and negative wire from the pickup. The braided outer wire is the negative lead and the center wire is the positive lead. The red wire is the power wire from the EMG's. There is a spot on the main board to hook up that wire. PM if you have any other questions, I have a Monarch New Standard as well and I put a Flexcore in my bass. You will be SHOCKED how much better the bass sounds with the Flexcore. It was a night and day difference for me and the Flexcore is waaaaaay more flexible.

I am one of the guy who asked this slap question with 26 frets yesterday night to Goran.

So I want to say him a huge thank you for having made this video.
That indeed really helps.

I am not a slaper man, as I play almost jazz where I never slap.

But I wanted to know, in case if I would have to slap, if 26 frets could be a problem (specialy for some one like me with a basic slap level).

Some guys asked me this question, so here is an answer...

No, the "New Standard" was a project that Vinny and Joey did a long time ago that involved Monarch Bolt-ons that they built without having a custom order in hand. Some of them were all built here in the Brooklyn shop and others had some of the woodworking outsourced. It used a 2-band preamp.

The current Standard line are all built here in our Brooklyn shop and all use a version of Mike Pope's Felxcore set up to sound as much like our Custom Shop Preamp as possible...

My problems with my Fodera Monarch New Standard still continues. So the original preamp broked and I bought Flexcore pre from my friend. I tought that my problems was gone....but not at all. Now there is more problems than ever.
The Flexcore has stacked volume/ tone, balancer, bass, treble and active/ passive switch. There is also stacked two band midrange control which is not yet put in bass. And things are these: in active mode there is some kind of weird distortion when plucked in normal way, in passive mode volume pot scratches in midway of pots range. So I can't use bass in active or passive way. The bass have EMG p&j pickups. Is there some kind of impedance miss matching with pickups and preamp? Or is the thing about that I haven't put midrange pot there in yet? What can I do? I hope that I have to get help as soon as possible because I have few major gigs and few studio sessions in next week and I do need my wonderfull Fodera back in busines.

as Jason knows "57 of the new new monarch standards is almost ready for delivery to me with a great story line attached to share with you all very soon. Jason BTW yesterday was last day for me......

Yes, but this appears to be a problem with a Flexcore preamp...was it purchased from us or from Mike? The answer to that should determine the first person that should be called regarding the issue.

Certainly if the preamp was purchased through us, we are more than happy to talk you through it. That said, since Mike sells a variety of different versions of the Flexcore, if the preamp was originally purchased through him, then he should be the first point of contact for support.

I understand that the VW is a monarch with mahogany, flame maple, Indian rosewood fingerboard and tulip inlays, but I am curious about what the A and B comparison is.

A VW Classic is always a Monarch, but a Monarch does not have to be a VW Classic....

It's as simple as a VW Classic is a Monarch with one, specific set of specs.
