Is that 'yellow stripe' down the middle of the topwood a shadow or something to do with the photography, or is that real?

Hi Roger, I would love to hear that bass live..BTW it's 36" scale right?

Hi.
Search for Jørn Skogheim on YouTube. There is a live clip and a couple of studio recordings with his trio. I'm located in Norway.
It is 36". So easy to play. It is a dream to play and own. Hollow body is the way to go with neck trough. Add alder, chestnut and braz rosewood and then you have it.

Thanks for the detailed account and your observations on the tonal character of the two basses. So you play with flat wounds but do you dig the brightness of stainless steel enough for you to change?

The flatwounds I've been using were a bit of an experiment - I got the idea after reading players like Pino and Owen Biddle were using them. I had some decent success with the Thomastik flats myself.

The strings on Jason's instruments were brand new rounds strung that morning. He didn't want me judging the sound based on varying ages of the strings...a great example of the level of service they've provided so far.

As for what I end up using on the finished bass, tough to say. Flats for the vintage Jamerson sound, rounds for the sustain and sizzle. We'll see who wins!

Hi good people,

Yesterday this showed up from Chris @ Bass San Diego:

Monarch Deluxe 5 with Koa Top, Mahogany Back, Maple 3-pc neck, and Pao Ferro FB.

I'm stunned at how good this instrument is and could not be more happy! I picked this one up used, but it is as Mint as can be, condition-wise. I have only played it unplugged and it rings like a bell.

Great machine and I am privileged to be her caretaker.

I suspect this may not be the last Fodera for me... :help: :hiding:

My Best,

Sorry, left home without my phone charger..back online thanks to my kind host. There was a video of the band at an open air festival, you were playing the AJ Hybrid. I watched it several times and really enjoyed it, but I couldn't remember the guitarists name.
Cheers..
