Rosewood with sapwood (lighter part)....

Just wondering what kind of top is this?! I knew a TBer own this one. Either Ebony, Katalox or two-tone rosewood top? Thanks a lot.

so i thought id give a report on my emperor elite 5. ive had this bass around 8 years and custom ordered it. however, things change in 8 years right? well, i bought a peavey cirrus and much preferred the string spacing on that bass versus the 19 mm spacing of the fodera.

so, i shipped the bass out to carey norstrand and had him install a 17.5mm hipshot a bridge. i just got it back a few days ago and its fantastic. i was a little worried about the strings not lining up with the pickup pole pieces, but i adjusted the side to side spacing and theres no difference in b or e string response compared to the old bridge. it also sounds better. when i would slam the action with the fodera bridge, it would always sound kind of hard and clanky. it needed slightly higher action (still really low mind you) to really speak. with this bridge, i can set it up slammed and still get the airy, spongy kind of sound i like. i highly recommend this bridge.

heres a pic and a soundclip. the clip is just some random wanking (isnt that what youre supposed to do on a fodera;))

That's a gorgeous Emperor Elite. With those ramps, you have a huge area to play over. Must be great.

yeah its nice. i honestly could have just done with the back ramp. for years, i didnt really see the need for them. but, within the last couple of years i realized there were some things in my playing i wasnt doing. when i started doing them, the ramp and the tighter spacing proved to be something useful.
