looks like a signature on steroids! what a top!!! i thought the signature had to be the same specs as vic's bass? ie. maple top?

i need to snap some pix of my own, but here's my new (to me) Emperor 5. The block abalone inlays are breath-takingly beautiful!

WoW! Sometimes when I see and hear people making such great music, I feel tremedously inspired. Other times, I find it depressing that after --what is it now?, oh yeah-- after 48 years of playing guitar, keyboards, percussion, and bass I can't even come close to that level, except maybe on the one instrument I started with, and then only on a very good day.

That Signature Monarch 4 and Emporer 5 both look fantastic! Congratulations.

Since Evan posted his ... this is the bass that I got from Evan after working out a three way trade. It's my second Monarch, and it's a beaut!! VW Signature, the tone on this thing just KILLS!

I'll have to post some more pics this w/e with my "other" Monarch ..

I dont think so.
I've seen a couple of Vic Sig Monarchs with burled tops.
Bass Central has one at the moment.
That bass rocks my world.
That Emporer 5 of yours is something special too!!

Although Vic's original bass was Curly maple over mahogany, you can order a Vic Wooten Classic with any combination of woods and you can even change the pups...

yep, from messiest...in that 3-way deal that hyperba55 just mentioned. i'm REALLY diggin this bass. at first, i felt that the B was a bit floppy, but by the end of my first rehearsal with the bass i had gotten used to the B and had it humming even as an open B.

i took off the lame pick guard that was on it with some sticky putty and put that in the case. the abalone blocks on this bass are really mesmerizing. i NEED to take some good photos of it (but that'll have to wait until i move to my new house).

very nice bass indeed.

Received the bass today, frickin awesome. Nearly 2 pounds lighter than my previous Bona and the B is a lot tighter in feel. It feels as tight as my E string almost!

Congrats brother on the new bass, I hope this one will make you happy!
one question though!
I saw it on ebay , is the ramp attached or not?
because there was pictures of the bass with and without the ramp.

Just wondering what kind of top is this?! I knew a TBer own this one. Either Ebony, Katalox or two-tone rosewood top? Thanks a lot.

I'm pretty much sure that this is rosewood with sap wood in it.

Katalox is full brown and this one definitely has red color in it.
