Fodera Yin-Yang Standard Wait Support Group

Not really, we have decided to post pictures of one out of every series of 10 in the Newborn section as it would be kind of absurd to show EVERY YYS. #11 and #12 are nearly finished as I type this and will go out early next week!

Probably for the best ;-) Every time I start thinking I should have gone for #9 rather than #28, I have to tell myself, "calm, calm"!

It's funny because from a playability and tone standpoint, it simply does not matter. I imagine down the road the first 10, having been signed by Victor, will have some degree of higher resale value...but other than that you really cannot loose either way.

There are also several prototypes that actually pre-date YYS1...

YYS1P - The original prototype, the very first YYS (I am actually the proud custodian of this one)

YYS2P - The 2nd prototype, this one was made for Victor

YYS3P - We didn't love the way the neck on YYS2P came out, so we made a third neck (YYS3P) that is now on the body of YYS2P (the neck from that bass remains at the shop here in Brooklyn).

YYS4P - The "first" real "production model" and the last prototype...this is the one that will be making the rounds for product reviews...

Cheers,

J

I was thinking that myself... #3 now or #22 at the end of the month.

I know its a bit off subject but was hoping someone can explain to me what the difference is between the fodera standard pre, the nyc pre, and the custom pre. I have to say much props to fodera for making a more affordable version of what has to be they're most recognized bass, to all you guys saying its not up to par to the deluxe, of course not its about 5 grand cheaper so there are bound to be some differences with the PERCEIVED quality. I've only had the chance to put my hands on a fodera once, it was Mike Bendy's 5 string Imperial(?) at a Jaco Birthday in Fort Lauderdale and it had hands down with out question the nicest feeling neck I have ever put my hands on. Keep up the amazing work guys.

"So far we have three folks on this thread who have them on order. Anyone else here?

I'm hoping to see some unboxing photos here in the next couple weeks, hint hint."

Number 54 for moi. Ordered it from Bass Central. Ian, when I get it I will post a photo or two if I can figure out how to attach them.

Jason, if you get a chance before 54 is finished, reportedly in December, I would be very honored if you have a chance to try it out before you all ship it out.

I have heard such nice things about all of you, and of course the wonderful Fodera's. Lol, I am really anxious to play that sweetheart....

I just noticed Victor's autograph mostly rubbed off my new Yin Yang Standard. It must have rubbed off while playing during the last couple gigs. :( If anybody else has one of these that is signed I suggest you get another control plate if you want to preserve the signature. I don't know what he signed it with but I certainly don't do anything crazy on stage. I came off very easily.

BTW: The bass is FANTASTIC!

That is correct. #1-10 are $5,750 and thereafter they are $4,750. #1-10 also happened to be signed by a pretty cool player named Victor Wooten. REAL signatures, not decals...we did them on the back plates so that people could choose to keep it on the bass, or not, as they see fit...

Hello,

I'm in Lebanon, and I have a friend who bought your serial #10 over here! And he's kind enough to let me try that bass.

If I'll like it (if I don't love it :smug:), I'm willing to order one myself, but my question is; will the $4750 have a cheaper quality in a way or the other? Or it's just the number and the signature that makes it a grand more expensive?
Thanks

I got #57 im stoked.. my parents got it for me for a college graduation gift... They'll let me play it when it comes in to make sure everything works and stuff but then they wont give it to me till i graduate college :(... something to look forward to i guess.. its kinda weird how bass centrals return policy is only 48 hrs..

I hope the neck on the Standards feel nice and smooth like other Fodera's ive played..

I cant wait to get this bass!!! Does anyone know if the screws on the bridge come loose if you slap and pop alot? Usually locktyte or nail polish will fix this from happening

Hi all,
Not to hijack this thread at all, but pondering a Yin Yang Deluxe, and this thread is not helping at all :D All the discussion about these Foderas is getting to me... I'm thinking that if everyone is absolutely over the moon with these Standards, what must the Deluxe be like? Anyway, congratulations to all of you who've received your YYSs and just hold on for those of you who are waiting! Sounds like it's well worth the wait :hyper:

They are identical in every way other than serial number and Victor's signature...

Regards,

J

All of the paint is identical to what we use on the full-blown customs...no worries for you there and I have not heard of anyone having problem with the saddles coming loose. Vic himself is pretty tough on gear! LOL!

Enjoy!

Just bought my way into this club. :D
I spoke with Donovan at the Fretspot.com a few minutes ago (actually, he was my tortured sounding board for about a week and a half until I finally pulled the trigger tonight) and put a deposit on #48.
I am ecstatic. I never thought I'd own a Fodera, and now I'm (hopefully) just months away.

My nephew is a guitar tech, and this was his response when I told him I made the move:

"When it gets shipped to your house, let it sit in the box, then we will unwrap it, get it setup right, and drink fancy alcohol whilst you test ride it. The sacred process must not be rushed!"

The kid gets me. :D

The wife? Well... She was a tougher sell. I've never played one, never held one, and I've only seen it in person in Victor's hands. I just always gazed longingly at pictures. And maybe it visited me in a fever dream once or twice.
She broke down, eventually. Though, not without a little give and take.

Donovan at Fretspot was awesome. I never felt any kind of sales pitch, he answered all my questions, was great to talk to and just basically helped me into what I hope will be my dream bass.

Can't wait to welcome #48 home.
Is it October - December yet?
