BTW. Chile voted against the amendment to remove sexual orientation from the resolution on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions (please see the link in the post #69).

So it would seem that LGBT people can add Chile to the list of countries which are to be avoided.

I just joined a discussion forum/protected space for LGBT juveniles (and their allies) called Empty Closets.

I did so with the aim of allying myself with others in providing timely intervention to young people swamped by the challenges associated with being born Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Transsexual.

So if any other LGBT TB'ers have a mind to do some mentoring...

i finally got a chance to sit down and read thru this thread last nite. there is some amazing and powerful stuff in here. it is truly a great thread. thanks.

OTOH, i have also read some of the stupidest, most insensitive, and hateful things i have ever seen in this thread. ahhh humans, so complex. the above is awfully offensive. myth #8, that gays were behind the holocaust, well, i think that may win the absurdity award from me.

common sense and helping out people in need. these things don't need to be in short supply, do they?

yup, exactly, me too. the key, tho, is "personal level." it is all too easy for history's power brokers (power hungry megalomaniacs) to de-humanize people. taking the personal out of the equation seems to make it possible for people to treat each other without decency.

case in point, iowa's recent popular vote to oust 3 of the judges who couldn't find a legal reason to call our same-sex marriage ruling unconstitutional. hence the last line in my sig...
