I saw this thread when it was first made and thought, "oh cool they are buying a present for a guy down on his luck". Then today I decide to see what the outcome was and WOAH! This thread took a left turn on to 34th Street!(and we all know what's on 34th street...)
Wow, another person found thanks to the internet. How awesome is that! My wife found her son who she had given up for adoption 20 years earlier thanks to FaceBook (and a billing screwup 20 years prior with her son's new name on it).
Wow! I completely missed this thread since I was on vacation, and it's become pretty darned amazing. I'm sorry I missed out on the contributions-for-gear phase, but I'm glad to help with whatever comes up now. I can't wait to see how this turns out.
Just when you start to think that the internet has lost all its good points, something like this comes along and restores your faith in it. Happy times.

I am without words. Imagine my surprise when trolling the threads today, and i come across this story. I don't post much on TB..But this, this story, demanded to be acknowledged. Trust me, YOU won't be the one whose privacy gets disturbed by cameras. And even worse, you didn't even ask the involved people.
And if you want to see positve things, don't turn on the tv...
Don't know if you're still looking for a bass, but I have a fretless SX 5-string Jazz that I'd be willing to donate straight-up. Stock, except for CTS pots and Switchcraft jack. It's in good shape. Only thing it needs is new strings.
It says you're in NYC. I'm just over the GWB in northern NJ. If you've got a set of strings for it (and maybe a gig-bag), I've got a bass you can have.
Im so glad to see this turned out this way, and i thought the beginning it was so cool on GE's part,now it has turned out as a holiday miracle.

GE- you sure got your new year off to a great start.Just by helping another person.Look where it has taken you, and him and his brother . Hats off to you - I truly hope it works out for them. You never know how a good deed might turn out
what you fail to realize is, "you give up your right to PRIVACY when you post PRIVATE information on a PUBLIC forum". right or wrong??? had it of been you or i, we would've PM'd "G.E.". (so just put something in that pipe of yours and smoke it,.. cheers!!!)
