Free Elixir 20ft cable

I just signed up and received the standard 'Thanks for contacting us' auto-reply. There was a mention, on the sign-up page, of being e-mailed with specific info shortly...
Sounds like a "scam" to collect email addresses for future advertising/blast emails. But, I'm suspicious by nature. We'll see if anyone actually gets a "free" cable.......

Just got an email from them..
"Thanks for signing up for our "Experience the Difference" Elixir® Cable sample. We are happy to say you signed up fast enough and will indeed receive a 20' cable! We'll ship your cable before the holidays (via USPS), so you should expect to receive it shortly."

While I'm sure the collected info will be used for their own marketing, I don't mind that because I like their products. However if they sell my info I'll be very annoyed.
Signed up, probably foolishly.
They'll leave this up until they get bored with harvesting names.
I can't imagine what they want to "survey" about these cables anyway. Gristlehead imaginary cable physics? How much more "awesome tone" and output you get out of their cable?
