I would assume it is legit. WL Gore is the company that makes elixir strings. They are most famous for goretex. It's really a fascinating cutting edge company so this type of marketing doesn't surprise me at all.

I found out about it from an email they sent me, Elixir Strings News, Dec 2009. Signup is on their home page

Signed up as well.

I worked at a music store this summer and we received a piece of mail from them saying if we sent it back in with a name and info and etc., they would send a free 20 ft. Elixir cable for us to try out. I did it and got the cable like 2-3 weeks later. Pretty nice cable actually (that's why I signed up again ).

So I'm guessing they will actually send free stuff out and it will be the same type of cable.

Sorry you missed it, but that does sound promising. I don't doubt at all that it's a legit offer (done somewhat similar offers myself in a different industry), but I wasn't sure where/when, or if, the cutoff would be announced.

Just because the offer was taken down doesn't mean that everyone who registered prior to that will get the cable.

Site says: "If you are one of the recipients, you will receive a cable in 2-4 weeks, subject to holiday delivery schedules."

So, sounds like one will either show up or not.
