Not much progress this week I'm afraid, but I have sorted out the wood for the neck... I've gone for Maple with Ebony veneers, they've not been glued together yet but here's a preview.

There are a lot of sources for veneers(retail). I just scored 18 leaves of 3" wide by 46" long Macassar Ebony veneers on Ebay just by happenstance. Sometimes luck is a plus.

Btw Simo...I love that neck layout...truly classy.

It's real, these particular ones are Macassar Ebony. I've never had a problem finding veneers over here in the UK, they're not particularly cheap.. but the same goes for buying any hardwood on this side of the pond

Not too cheap over here either Simo, but I got this batch for $34,as they were remnants...length correction, they are 3" x 64" not 46" as stated earlier.

I've been watching these building threads since I joined TB and I gotta tell you guys... Absolutely beautiful work!! You guys have given me such a desire to try my own build... if only I didn't live in an apartment... and have zero wood-working skills. Nevertheless, I truly enjoy watching you guys build these incredible instruments. Keep it up fellas!!
