Frets annoy me

...I´m getting mad...I feel them like a barrier to my playing. A fellow bassist land me a fretless for about a month and was pleased to see that I have more freedom with a fretless. Came back to the fretted and started to get angry....those metal wire between strings and the fingerboard are feeling awkward.

Well, I've noticed the fretless can be more precise than a fretted.

Perhaps it might be if you're talking about micro intonation compensation when you're fretting/stopping a note. But even though it theoretically can be more precise, in practice it's seldom the case.

I'm not sure what you mean by more freedom. There's twelve tones in the standard Western scale. Fretted or not, it's still the same twelve tones.

In for a penny...

I've been 'unlined' for 30 years this year, with a brief dip into lined and the occasional fretted options. This year I got my first fretted bass (SBMM Ray34) in over 20 years and I am loving it, but the fretless is where I live for 90% of my 'bass time'.

I want to keep a fretted, that´s for sure.....but mainly I want to go fretless.

Since I bought a fretless about a year & a half ago I've played way more bas than ever--and enjoyed it more than ever.
Frets don't feel weird when I play guitar or mandolin--but they feel odd when I play bass.
I have kept my fretted bass and plan on keeping it--and I do play it sometimes--but the fretless gets much more use--and I enjoy it so much more.

It's not for everybody--but if you like it that much--go for it!

I love playing my fretless, but my band (and audience) prefers me being in tune. I should practice more often.

Meh, frets are overrated. But I play fretted basses as well. This is my main gigging bass (no frets):

I have attained a lined fretless bass recently, and it is getting 75% of my attention. And the more I play fretlessthe more I enjoy it! I've just played my 1st "Live Performance" with one, and it went better than expected. I think I may be a Fretted Ex-Patriot...
