Friend slams band on facebook

If you're talking about a hammond B-3 organ, yes I would love that! Definitely one of my favorite sounds, a band with a hammond B-3. We've talked about adding keys. But drummer doesn't like "organ sounds". :hmm:

I agree with your friend. While your singer isn't horrible, he's very far from pro quality. He has little sense of melody or vocal control. He's also obviously singing from the throat rather than the diaphram on the first song and isn't projecting on the second song. All of this is affecting his timbre and tonal quality.

Though if I were your friend and wanted an opinion, I would have done it in private (or posted it on Talkbass lol).

I didnt think he was that bad - actually i thought your band sounded good. as far as his posting on FB - that probably wasnt what i would do , but FB has become a form of commucating now and i would just take it as such. your band is good enough to ignore a random post like his anyway. Keep on going on. maybe tell your singer what was posted on TB so he can work toward improving --- but i say your doing fine.

My wife said the same thing, instead she said "quirky" instead of "hokey". The thing is, most of the time, his voice is different on the serious songs.

And I agree, there is always room for improvement....with everybody. But you can't "get a new lead singer" when the singer is the writer and it's his band.

Yeah, the friend could have said something privately, but even then---why? Dumb.

I have played the Whiskey many times--back in the late '70's. Back then the dressing rooms upstairs stank, were a total mess, holes in the walls and cockroaches--same as at the Troubadore. Hope they are better now, lo these many years later.

So basically what I'm getting from this is that you only want good reviews posted on your f-book wall. Personally, if you post something up I'll tell you how I feel, whether I like it or not. What's going to happen the first time you read a bad review of your band in a newspaper or other media? You gonna cry on Talkbass about it? Still not gonna change the fact that you didn't make everyone happy. And you never will! But when you put your work up for the world to see you have to take the good with the bad. It's not all cotton candy and lolly pops! Welcome to the real world.

I wouldn't call it a "review". You can't replace the lead singer of a band in which the lead singer is also the lyricist and songwriter.
