Fuming about Yamaha Cust. Service for a minute...

What should be very clear in the OP, and it isn't, is that he got the parts number, as he wanted. That should be the first sentence in the OP.

The title of the OP is misleading. It makes the reader think that the customer service didn't do their job, or they didn't help the customer.

The title should be fixed. And in the OP it should read clearly that the issue was resolved without any problems.

By the way, I know a lot of people who probably would mess up changing a pickguard. Scratches on the body, stripped wood from screwing, pulling a wire loose, etc..

This whole thread is useless.

"I was rude to someone who was likely dictating an extremely broad company policy per the requirements of their position and now I want TB to tell me that I was right to do so".

Yes we are overly litigious here. I will concede that. What you don't hear about is all the frivolous lawsuits that get tossed out before they ever see the light of day. And the legal cost incurred by an individual to sue a company over something like this would amount to way more than the price tag of the bass.

We as a nation tend to have stupidity run amok. We are allowed to be as stupid as we want to be. That coupled with the above, and our willing to spread, and believe misinformation leads to those disclaimers.
"If you're allergic to Fuqitol, don't take Fuqitol."
"Do not consume the contents of this product" printed on a bottle of bleach.
We are morons, the lawyers get rich, and the cost of goods and services increases. It's what we do.

"Maybe I'm the ass here, but really Yamaha...really?! "

Yeah, I know I was an ass...and I actually apologized to Chris and told him a few times, "I know this isn't from you, it's from Yamaha..."

Again, he did have a very dickhead tone to his voice, however my problem isn't with him. As I stated in the OP, it's with the script Yamaha has given him.

I'm not sure why everyone assumes that I came here to say Chris himself was to blame or that he was making stuff up.

I very clearly stated that I was "fuming at Yamaha," not angry with Chris...?

I fully own that I was an ass, but he was definitely talking down like I was a moron as well.

To go back to my work as a Paramedic....what if you had a simple scrape that needed a bandaid, and some Paramedic or EMT told you that you can't apply your own bandaid because they don't think you have the skills required to do so? (And if you don't think that people call 911 for a bandaid, you're very wrong lol)
