funkadelic - one nation under a groove

Bootsy is credited as the drummer, but come on...he was one of the hottest bassists, and maybe the hottest funk bassist, at the time, but all he did was play drums on "Funkentelechy"?

"Bandfuse: Rock Legends" has Bootsy as its Bass "Legend," and he shows off a riff from Funkentelechy in one of his instructional videos. Which doesn't mean he was the bassist on the recording, but he described it as one of his favourite classic riffs that he enjoyed playing back in the day.

Bootsy's Rubber Band cut an album right around the same time that Parliament did Funkentelechy, so he may have been busy at the time. Or they could have been just down the hall from each other in the same studio, swapping personnel back and forth, P-funk style.

No way!! The outtro of Funkentelechy is distinctly bootsy. Also, his lesson on sir nose made me sure that he composed it, I think he did.
I agree. I've heard a lot of P-Funk songs that I consider to be "distinctly Bootsy" attributed to other bassists.

I'm to the point where I wouldn't be too surprised to hear someone claim that Bootsy didn't even play bass on Bootsy's Rubber Band records!

Bootsy was instrumental in bringing the "one" to George Clinton something he picked up from playing with James Brown you can play whatever you like but bring it back to the "one" and George was able to take it to another level so whatever bass part he didn't play he crafted.
