Man, I'm seeing a lot of players mentioned who to me are anything but funky. Alain Caron, the dude from the brecker bro's....these guys sort of scream "unfunky" to me. Everything of theirs that I've heard sounds way too forced.
Chris Wood, Rocco, Paul Turner, Pino, Jaco, and guys like them all make your head nod heavy on the one, whenever they want. That is funky to me.

You managed to offend me. What does funkiness have to do with ethnicity? You may as well say, "He doesn't sound black, does he?" or "She's a good dancer, for a white chick."![]()
I agree! I was in a Phish Tribute Band for awhile. That is no easy task.
I still think this thread is ignorant. I made a slightly political remark once, and I was flagged and warned. How is this thread still open.
Phish?
That is like the anti-funky band.
While "slap" CAN be funky, it usually isn't . . . IMO . . ....Mike Gordon can slap with the best of them...

Not to mention the fact that if I were black, I would definitely get really uncomfortable with people thinking that my race was the reason I was s certain way, or had a certain talent.

I'm pretty sure eveyone who has been ticked off by this thread is white, or at least not black. I don't know why, but I suspect that is the case.
