I've been trying to play over Dafy Funk - Da funk synth, and from all the default sounds the 15 gets the closest to it. However, I find myself striking the D and A strings really hard and in staccato to keep it pitch-perfect, otherwise it gets into a curve and looses that nasal character and starts glitching. Played with the parameters but they only can do much. Don't feel at ease inside the software editor yet, but I'll keep exploring it.

I have a few questions:
What is the ETA on the new Mac-windows editor? How is it different/better from the one Lokki sent me?
Is this pedal an instant fav for everyone else?
If not top secret, why does the FI seem to track so much better than competition?
Is it terrible that I am looking forward to my GF leaving on business so I have 4 evenings without interruption to get to know this funky box?

Its an amazing unit. the 99 stock sounds were worth the price alone in my opinion. the tweakability adds another dimension to the pedal!
-hmm, soon. it is fancier graphic wise and adds the firmware upgrade function to mac OS X systems. functionality is the same...

Even if the patches don't EXACTLY nail the studio sound hopefully they get close enough, or at least are good enough for general use elsewhere. I like the sound challenges as they give you a defined target to try to hit, always a good way to learn programming new gear.@maisbass Question for you about the Chromeo patch specifically. Can you personally play and the FI to retrigger this patch at the same speed as the studio recording? Those initial note jumps in the beginning of the riff are challenging to trigger for me.

Agreed, I usually clear all presets and design my own but @lokki et.al. Really nailed it on creativity. Kuddos to them.
I'm looking forward to the new graphic interface on editor and hoping for staccato solutions for other than saw oscillator types in future updates. That said, as the FI stands today I am more than satisfied.
So yes and no. I can play the lick cleanly with the FI without glitching... and yes it is a challenging and fun lick. The patch sounds great and practically spot on. With that being said I think it needs to be tweaked for the attack to trigger properly consistently (perhaps its not possible). And I noticed a few other things as well...Always my pleasure to share.

I really had to tweak the input gain in small increments on the pedal to get it to retrigger as close as possible to the recording but was unable to fully nail it. After doing that I think perhaps it's a matter of how perhaps the sound is decaying? Almost sounds like a phaser effect is in place and when I attack and it's not getting back to the peak of the waveform. So the sound never drops out as I'm playing the lick, but the tone just varies, almost sweeping phaser like. I also found I really need to dig in and articulate the notes in order to get it to almost work like the tune. I will play and tweak some more tomorrow and see what I come up with.
**Also I uploaded a couple of patches to the google share under the folder "soundsmike". One patch is "Take on Me" by Aha, and the other is "The Promise" by When in Rome.
-For Take on Me you really have to mind your technique on it otherwise you may trigger some false notes. I assure you it tracks and works though. I used it live on Saturday night and it worked great.
-"The Promise" is another tricky one. This is played an octave up. I found it works best when starting on the 10th fret of the A string ("G"). This is another one where you have to have clean technique and dig in a bit.
I'm still going to try and tweak those patches, but please feel free if you can improve upon them.

This one is SOOOOOOO CLOSE and sounds great, but like you said, that envelope isn't quite right. I notice it carrying on and I have to be careful to get it to cut off so I can start it again, it needs to be easier to stop if that's even possible. Still great stuff so far, loving the Chromeo patch too, that's spot on!
You can try all day long but you'll only ever Be able to approximate one synth with a different synth. And NIN can get crazy complicated with synths.
Regarding the NiN sound, scroll to the bottom of this page Chunk Systems Octavius Squeezer Sound Samples and Patches and there's a "Closer" demo of the Squeezer and BOSS OC2 > Korg G5 for comparison. Just so you can hear what some of the other synth pedals can do. Not saying any particular box is better than another, just demo'ing what's in the realm of general possibilities with various synth pedals. Eventually I'll start a FI page and add recordings there, too, and will run it through the same Roland hexachorus effect to see how it sounds in stereo like that. Should be pretty good.
