It's just plain courtesy to give a manufacturer the chance rectify an issue behind closed doors before airing laundry publicly, is it not? Quality control issues happen to everyone, especially at the start of runs.

Agreed, though this isn't at all unique to this specific pedal. One solution that FEA Labs used for some of their pedals was to pull the knob caps and put o-rings around the shafts, then reinstall the caps. Simply causes mechanical friction when trying to turn the knobs, but successfully keeps them from from being accidentally bumped out of position.
Sorry dude that's not how forums work. If you want to take advantage of "open box videos", "real time first impressions", "user created patches", etc etc etc, there is some bad that comes with it.

In my opinion people are reading WAYYYYY more into the comments here than they should. I'm not trying to slight anyone or compare anything. I'm simply reporting a potential DIY solution to the FI loose-knob feel based on my personal experience with another pedal that had a similar loose-knob feel. It'd be a perfectly cheap-n-quick solution, one of us just needs to figure out the appropriate o-ring specs.
Idiot question: if I want to use my bass to drive the FI for the purpose of editing patches using the software, what kind of hardware do I need?
Bass goes into the FI input, FI output to your amp. MIDI cables go to your PC for editing patches. Is that what you mean?
I am now using Th F1 with a Boss Sy-300, and a Saturnworks double looper/blender with dry out, which allows the signal to be sent to each pedal in parallel, not series.... End result, synth nirvana , LOL. I've been trying to achieve something like this since the early eighties, nice to finally arrive. Would be nice if the tracking on the F1 could be improved, though.
Hi all! If someone is interested I made a short demo (three presets), playing Future Impact synth sounds with an Akai EWI wind controller:
Why not just put the FI in the Roland Sy 300 effect through and return that way you can use the effcts from the roland on the FI at the same time. This way you can control the volume of either with the foot switches.
Because the signal from the bass is processed in series, and when both fx are employed, yields strange artifacts, distortions, and cancellation effects... Unless I routed the signal path in error, which is entirely possible. But I tried several configurations, none satisfactory. I want to employ the oscillators on the Sy-300 in conjunction with the oscillators on the F1, and it seems that putting the F1 through the send and return, and using the oscillators on the Sy-300 made the tracking on the F1 unstable
Have you played with the input sensitivity on the Roland? Are you using a the built in compressor on the Roland input? I dont have a FI yet but this was my plan as to set it up in the Roland thru and return.
Tried everything I could conceive of, couldn't get satisfactory results. no problem with the looper, great blended sounds, +dry out instantly adjustable, on the fly. definitely the way to go for me[

That's weird because I thought send/return on the SY-300 was supposed to be in parallel with the oscillators. I hope you wired it wrong because I want to try it.

Just need to follow up to say that I really hope that the SY-300 routing thing works, that's really a brilliant solution, I wish I had thought of it before. I'll report back if I figure it out.
Especially when you can buy nicely silk screened pedals for about 100 bucks.

I have very good news: Zsolt Rammer did a fantastic job, he created a database that works very well. Lokki has filled it up today with the defaults sounds. We will post more sound samples and explanations to most of them, but at least the "core" is there. Everybody is encouraged to start to use it, you can upload your sounds that you are ready to share with others!
