....this isn't at all unique to this specific pedal. One solution that FEA Labs used for some of their pedals was to pull the knob caps and put o-rings around the shafts, then reinstall the caps. Simply causes mechanical friction when trying to turn the knobs, but successfully keeps them from from being accidentally bumped out of position.

I happened to be driving by a hardware store today so I took the pedal with me and picked up some o-rings and some flat fender washers. The o-rings fit stealthily inside the bottom of the knob, but required me to widen the inner diameter from whatever it was to 1/4", but it wasn't thick enough to rub on the chassis, thus didn't work. Perhaps two would have but they were really challenging to drill by hand to widen the I.D.

The fender washer was huge, way too wide, but the right thickness to get sandwiched between the knob and chassis, and elastic enough to fit over the pot shaft without requiring drilling. Just needed to cut it down so it wasn't visible. Because it's soft it doesn't give a smooth feel when turning the knob like the o-ring likely would have, but at $0.50 each it's cheap and effective. But it does solve the issue of the Input and Output knobs getting bumped easily.

On the knobs, mine are not just loose in the sense of little resistance when turning them, but they wobble a little bit.

However, when I held the pedal up and looked at the pot shafts, they didn't seem to move when I wobbled the knobs---or at least so I thought. Has anyone else taken a look at this?

I'll have to double check once I actually get one, but I would say it's a pretty strong possibility for a re-house into a smaller box.
the problem with the rehouse (i planned it with the prototype) is the height of the guts, midi connector + display and pot make it higher then a hammond bb for example. but i don't know what cases you make :-)

For standard enclosures maybe, but I think the point is that there is plenty of room for a custom rehouse...
 
If you can sand it, and buff the crap out of it, I bet you could get a transfer to stick to the existing enclosure. It would be a pain in the ass no doubt, but it's possible. I personally think it would look kind of weird in a standard hammond. Maybe a slanted hammond would be cool though. The biggest pain would be lining up the inputs and outputs.
