Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

Yup, that's it. If you have Preset Mode enabled you can store your settings for the FI along with programs for up to two other devices and recall all at the same time. I have two SA pedals (Manta and MWBD) connected via the SB Hub and I can recall settings on all three with one tap. I often use the FI with the filters bypassed along with the Manta for synth duties.

Actually, have a similar combo and can't get it to work like that just yet. Have a Hub with 2 SA pedals and a FI in my Midi chain, and whichever is last in the chain (cause I've switched them around): Device B - Midi Chn 2, is not responding to PC changes in preset mode. Also, as a second issue, holding down the "mode" btn on the DMC is not sending C66 to the FI, and it keeps sending sounds regardless if the leds are on or off. The FI does answer to C66 from a computer though.

Finally got around to updating my FI from the initial factory version to 1.22 using M-Audio Profire 2626 Worked without issue once I read the user manual. :)

There does appear to be some issue with the editor and loading previously saved patches. I've tried 1.01 and 1.22 versions of the editor and they appear to behave the same.

* Load one of your previously saved patches
* Perhaps it doesn't sound like you recall
* Take note of the Pitch setting on the first VCO
* Adjust the Pitch on the first VCO up or down a semitone, then back to its original position
* Observe the tone changes from how it sounded from initial load

Can anyone reproduce?

The order of the devices in the MIDI chain doesn't matter, you have to set each device to the correct MIDI channel. You can use the SA Hub Manager to set it to MIDI channel 1 or 2 for the A or B device respectively, and then set the FI to the other channel. If you don't mind emailing Drew through the website he can hook you up with the latest firmware, which has support for the FI.

Here are the two tracks that I recorded with Future Impact. I don't remember which presets I used, but I know they were originally Gastric's sounds that I slightly tweaked:

Sounds on 00:28 and 01:38:

In this track I used Future Impact in combination with Iron Ether Xerograph Low Pass filter + Moog EP-2 expression pedal:

I love putting the Future Impact through the Xereograph. That really is a great filter when feeding other effects.

Putting it through the Source Audio with the Hot Hand is also really fun.

ill be trying this for sure when i finally get some spare time this weekend.

another pedal that plays nice with the FI is my DOD meatbox. The FI has a lot of low, but omfg - when i dial in the Meatbox its a whole new level. It must be what heaven sounds like :smug:

Hahahah, I think I understand - similar thing can be achieved with Xerograph if you mix a wet signal set to lowest audible frequency with dry signal - dub city!!!

Almost 6 months have passed since I got my Future Impact and I'm very happy with it. It's simply the best bass synth there is and it fulfilled all my synth needs, especially when paired with Xerograph Deluxe!!!

My pedal setup. The honeymoon is still not over with my Future Impact. I don't think it ever will be over!!

Question: Is there MIDI CC control over the pedal bypass? I'm not seeing it in the user manual MIDI implementation.

Answer: "SOSTENUTO (Control 66; Effect On/Off). If <64 then switch the relay to bypass, if >=64 then to effect." The word SOSTENUTO threw me off at first.

I did see that there's a global VCF MIDI CC sweep range function that a great start towards producing a lot of that manual pedal sweep stuff. "VCF Control: Name: “vCF”, meaning VCF control range adjust. Value: 1:+-1 octave; 2:+-2 octaves; 4: +-4 octaves" Set it to 4 Octaves, then configure your MIDI CC to send CC74 with a range of 64-127 and you're there. Haven't tried a Hot Hand yet, but I'd suspect you can probably do the deep dubstep type stuff now.

Nope. I play octaves with my "KissMe" patch that is on the shared drive under the folder "Soundsmike". I've done this with other patches in the FI as well.

You really need to play clean and control string vibration as well. Make sure you are only fretting and playing one note without overlap to the octave to prevent false triggers.

Just read through the majority of this epic thread, and listened to just about all the online demos - sounds great. A couple of questions. None of the demos I have found have the filter opening with a long attack - is this doable on the FI? I had both an SB1 and G5 in the past, and if I recall the Akai couldn't do it - it was always a pretty quick attack, so I used the G5 for those sounds. Obviously more parameters are accessible now, so hopefully it can emulate some classic deep moog filter sweeps. I'm also not entirely clear on what parameters can be controlled via midi. This is a massive deal to me, as the ability to modulate the filter, change patches, and mess with any number of parameters with my MP201 would be awesome.

I have some slow "pad" demos on my Future Impact page. I believe those were using the longest attack possible, you'll have to decide if that's long enough for your needs. Click the link in my signature below.

You can also use an expression and do manual filter frequency sweeps. I haven't tested this but it should work. Set a patch with a static filter, set the global VCF sweep range to +2 or +4 depending on your needs. Then configure an expression to perform a manual sweep of the MIDI CC that controls filter frequency.

The thing is that I ve tried octaves on different tempos (110-160 bpm) and couldnt do it without losing some tracking. At first the pedal starts well but soon enough seems to get stacked over one note! Is it possible there is some configuration I need to do? For instance, can someone plz tell me if this song can be performed somehow ( at the bridge)? or this one's intro [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Can you fix these links? Thanks.
