Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

Good time to plug our community Google Drive shared folder where many of us have been sharing patches. You could store yours there, others can then use them, and you'd theoretically have them as a backup resource (I believe anyone can fully edit the folder so I suppose someone could accidentally delete the files, haven't tested that). Additionally, to get you started there's a TON of great patches already shared there you can use to get back up and running. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Yes, everyone has the ability to write to the folder, edit, and yes, I believe delete too. I do have a backup folder that no one has access to. I try to backup the shared folder periodically just in case someone accidentally deletes a file. Since we are talking about, I probably should back up now! LOL!

Anyone using this with a DB? I am thinking a filter which opens and closes with more or less pressure on the bow. If I had the skills to programme this I would, but .........

I'm using a Pigtronix EP2 with my cello for exactly that... I would have thought it would be possible to do something similar with the FI since it is just the sensitivity (is that the Envelope Follower fader in the Modulation section of the FI editor?)

I use it with DB, but my bowing skills aren't ... uhm... skills. They're right up there with my programming kills — skills, I meant (lack of) skills.

However, to the best of my understanding this is how a filter works. At least, how my filter on my M5 works. You play harder (louder) and the envelope opens up more, giving you more "quack". Bowing harder makes my bass sound louder, ergo therefore the envelope should open up more.

I'll have to try this bowing thing with my FI, I've only played pizzicato with the FI. Need to practice my bowing more anyway, maybe this will give me incentive.

Thanks, now that I have a clue which fader to move I will try it.

I've been checking the manual, maybe also try the VCA and VCF blocks on the right hand side of the FI editor. If anyone with more knowledge of the FI editor would care to comment that would be useful!

Edit: I am guessing you would set up a blank patch and in the Input section turn everything to zero except Bass then use the VCF section for the filter sensitivity... I might try it out later and if I get anywhere I will post it in here.

Sorry to be boring for a moment..... but I'd like to go back to a topic that was discussed earlier in the thread: Duty and import taxes from Hungary to the US.(I've almost sold enough gear to purchase an FI so it's on my mind:D)

From what I've read in the thread, people have been hit with about 30.00 USD duty tax and handling sometime after the delivery of the pedal. I asked my local shipper and she showed me an online calculator for this. We put in the numbers and identified the Future Impact 1 as a Synthesizer module (not a pedal) and it showed zero due. Although in the calculations I had to assume that the insurance was included in Panda-Audio's shipping and handling fee which may be incorrect. Maybe just the definition of the item as a Synthesizer module would change the fee?

However the Shipping Provider CAN charge a handling fee (see very bottom) but according to my friend 30.00 is quite high for an item this size and weight and for the total value.

see example below for a copy pasta from the duty calculator site, and let me know if I have made a mistake somewhere.

The shipping provider or broker handling the import may charge handling fees to clear an import from customs. Examples of these fees are:

  • a customs clearance fee, or customs handling fee for processing the import declaration
  • an advancement fee for paying the duty and VAT on behalf of the recipient
  • an airline handling fee for loading and unloading the goods
  • a security fee for screening or x-raying the goods

I believe the import duties vary from state to state.

Dear F.I. users,
please help me, I have tracking issues. I play passive basses, and as far as I can tell I have good muting right and left hand technic. My problem is, that I can't make the unit do proper tracking that I can rely on. I have put compressor in front of the unit, tried different things, but sometimes it works, sometimes not, and I don't feel safe on concerts becouse of this. I'm curious about your ways of using the F.I.. It can be a problem as well, that the things I'm using the unit for are rather busy bass lines, so I have to play very clean, so I'm playing them with my Zoom B3n with some defret, Z-tron and chorus effects... of course it doesn't sound as good :)
Thanks for the advices!

I'm not the most accurate player and also use passive basses (fretless) and I have no tracking issues... I run through an FEA compressor mostly but even without it's not an issue. Try adjusting the Note On and Note Off parameters which by default are both set to 5 - I have Note On set to 8 and Note Off set to 6.

I have the same exact problem. I take pride in my clean technique and I can't get the FI to track correctly, especially octaves. I tried adjusting settings, boosting low and mids to no avail. To the point that I am considering reselling it

+1 to @ficelles idea - play around with the two global (yellowed) settings on the main knob, Note On and Note Off. Took me a little playing around to finally find the sweet spots for my playing. I can play with even a little sloppiness and still have it track fine. Also, another thing that can impact the tracking are the patches themselves. Try a bunch of the TB User Created patches, they might be better since they were manually tweaked, or go into your favorite stock ones and try to tweak them. @gastric has posted in here how to adjust patches if they don't track well.

Sorry for my lack of attention, but I can't find that yellowed global setting part with the note on and note off! And it drives me crazy!!! :D Where is it? Please show it, or explain it please! :)

I didn't realize that they're not in the editor (at least, similarly to you, I cannot find them in that screenshot), but they're on the pedal itself.

I've just looked down to the unit itself... :D Thanks anyway!

Yeah, you won't find them in the editor because they're global params for the pedal itself, so the changes are for ALL patches.
