I feel exactly the same...
A bit earlier there was some speculation that the fact that things have been quiet from Panda Midi and the minor price drop of the FI, that a hypothetical version 2 was near. I was holding off ordering being a little afraid, thinking a possible product upgrade would be revealed at the summer NAMM this July. I downloaded the vendor spreadsheet from the NAMM website and Panda Audio was not on the list. I emailed directly and got an nice reply from Gabor.
"don't be afraid, we will not have hardware upgrade this year. instead, we will provide several software updates for the existing units since we have a great number of ideas to implement!"
So if you were waiting to order like me, have no fear. If you've already got one it sounds like some cool stuff is in your 'future'.

A midi controller which sends program change messages, in order to change presets on the FI. The TC unit works but if (for example) you select program 2 on the TC, you get program 1 on the FI. Not a huge problem but not ideal.
IMHO the TC G Minor is now old tech (over ten years old) and if I remember, can't be programed as such to do what you probably want ficelles. the G-minor works with 3 buttons. 2 are bank up and down and 1 is channel select. It has other functions too but they are only available when you are using the TG-Major with it which it was designed explicitly for. It's nice because it is small but maybe a used MIDI Mouse or Basilisk would do what you want.

It's actually patch up and down on the TC with no bank select which works with the FI apart from the patch number being out of step, other functions are to be able to send Ctl messages which might be useful. Probably the Midi Mouse like you suggest is a better option though.
Edit: the patch number on the TC apparently translates to a bank and patch number to suit the G-Major unit, I guess that is different to what the FI is expecting.

Just checking, apologies if I state something you already know:
When you have both MIDI jacks connected between two units you need to set one of the outputs to Out rather than Thru, to not get a loop.
As to patches not being in step (do you mean patch numbers on the two units?) there is sometimes a MIDI program number table where you can map incoming PC numbers to the patch numbers you want.
ficelles; for a little more money look at the DMC gen3 pedals. They have built in support for the Future Impact and have expression pedal input and firmware update via USB. That is what I am leaning toward now.

I quite like the idea of expression pedal volume control as well as more versatile bank/patch select... has anyone tried the Rocktron Midi Xchange with the FI? A bit on the large side maybe...

I would say there is a very high chance of that
I looked at my MIDI Designer page for the FI and PC 1, not PC 0, maps to preset 1 on the FI. So I assume the TC unit's "1" is PC 0 and its "2" is PC 1.
Hi everyone, just took delivery of the Future Impact last Saturday, and it sounds awesome. I've grabbed the sound files and stuff from the preset sharing thread and really look forward to checking them out! Along the lines of the recent conversation, what's the most efficient MIDI switching solution available? I've seen Nathan Navarro's video where he's using a small black pedal that looks like it has 4 switches or so on it, but not much readout for which setting it's on, etc, so I look forward to getting caught up on this thread! Thanks, all!
