Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

Sustain could be implemented in a next software version, but it is far from obvious how. Should it be implemented for MIDI input only, or for bass guitar input as well? What should be the algorithm? Should a note be sustained forever when it is sustained, so other consequent notes will be ignored (since the FI is monophonic), or should it play legato all notes while the sustain is active? If it is implemented for bass guitar input, and the sustained not is sustained forever, it means that sounds that are built from two sources, a synth part and a harmonized sound part will fall apart of the two components for consequent notes. Could be especially painful for sounds using quick crossfade between the two.

i think sustain on bass input would be great with the following scheme:

a note is played, let it ring as long as there is no new note, if a new attack occurs play the new pitch but not the attack. so yes kind of like legato on a synth. (that would mean the sound just continues in his envelop, only the pitch will change.

for the midi part of the f.i. my two most missed points are aftertouch implementation (with filter cutoff, resonance or volume as destinations) and a "proper" glide implementation. i think it would be great to have a fingered portamento option, so it only glides when more then one note is pressed on the keyboard. subsequently it would also not retrigger attacks in this case.

Glide/portamento and after touch are on the top of my wish list. There is a lead patch from the old Oberheim that I would like to try an emulate and it would be possible with these. I think both feature could add some very expressive possibilities.

Not sure how I can make it any more clear :) I want a pedal to control FI midi volume. On CC7. Like an ordinary expression pedal but with midi connectivity. To control midi volume from 0 to 127.

ficelles, I may have found your midi volume solution.
This unit comes set up to do MIDI volume on channel 1 but it can have other functions through a downloadable editor:

MIDI Solutions Pedal Controller; Continuous MIDI Data Generator

also this if you can find a used one in the UK:

DigiTech MC2 Continuous Controller | Gary's Gear Locker

Personally I think the most important changes that could be made to the FI are:

1. Full ADSR on the VCF. The lack of a sustain parameter limits your ability to play long held notes that leverage filter sweeps.
2. Full ADSR on the VCO. I would be happy with just be one ADSR block for all the VCO combined, though individual ADSR on each VCO block would be awesome.

Those two things alone will allow the Future Impact to make a HUGE swath of additional tones.

Then I believe if we had VCF + VCO ADSR you could more or less set a long release to more or less mimic your desire for a long sustained note. Assuming it supported long enough release times for whatever it is you're attempting.

@Andras Szalay please look into this!

Could someone remind me/detail what the behavior of the MIDI out port is? Will it do a basic "Thru" of everything passed to the "In," including MIDI clock, or does it cut off anything/add its own MIDI data? Thanks.

from the manual:

MIDI Through: The MIDI OUT of the FI will mirror back all information coming through MIDI IN, except Control 6 (Data Edit), NRPN controllers and sysex.

Program Change Out: Whenever a program change happens on the FI, it sends out the appropriate Program Change command on the MIDI OUT on the effective MIDI Channel, if it was caused by pressing the Program pedal, or a Program Decrement command on the MIDI IN, but not by a Program Change on MIDI IN (this will appear on MIDI OUT anyway, due to THRU).

i'm not 100% sure about midi clock, but mirrors back all info would suggest it should work. (unless you count midi clock as sysex) maybe best to try it out.

Mine does for sure not send out MIDI clock.
I wouldn't expect it to GENERATE MIDI Clock, but I'd expect it to pass it through successfully. Not too many boxes generate clock.

Based on what Fret had said elsewhere I was wondering about mirroring clock, not generating.

Hi Andras. I'm still enjoying gigging with the FI. It has become such a vital part of my setup. I actually couldn't do my gigs without it. Any update on when we will see the new software? Will it have ADSR? Thanks, and thanks for a phenomenal product. Hands down it's the best pedal in my arsenal. Love it.

I feel exactly the same... :)

Not sure why you'd need an OC-2 with a FI on your board. It does octaves and more. I stuck a couple of BOSS OC-2 patches on the Google Drive for you. They don't sound EXACTLY like the OC-2 but are decent approximations of that straight -1 OCT soloed BOSS OC-2 sound.
My FI has now replaced my 3Leaf Audio Octavbre - which is very OC-2 like, and a superb octaver I thought would never leave my board. I'm using one of @gastric patches. IMO the FI is superior to any octave pedal due to an analog sound with zero tracking problems. And running the FI octaver patch into my 3Leaf Wonderlove envelope filter is sublime.

If your still, or ever was, looking for suggestion on updates:

Exponential and Logarithmic slopes on envelop and/or follower would be pretty epic. I'd use that more than full ADSR. When full ADSR was brought up I thought it was a good idea but now realize I already control sustain and release with my playing dynamics. The less my dynamics controls the more sterile I feel the output becomes.

I'm not a huge fan of the current FX section, I find it tough to dial in useable tones. Perhaps a dedicated delay into a dedicated reverb would make it easier to dial in. It would allow finer tuning open it up to more possibilities if the FX were in series. I don't think chorus is needed with 3 oscs. Seems with synths you only need chorus to make a single osc sound like multiple oscs.

Howdy folks! I have a couple of questions. I'm really interested in getting the Furure Impact. Where did you get/order yours? I noticed you can get it from the Pandamidi site itself, bypassing any dealers. It's even cheaper that way. Would the transportation be insured if you order straight from Pandamidi?
Is it possible to switch between sounds? Let's say there are 2 presets (sounds) that I like, would it be possible to switch between them during a song? Not by scrolling through a bunch of settings but just by clicking one button? I don't know much about effects so I hope my question makes any sense. Thanks!

I'm in Belgium too, and got mine direct from the Pandamidi website without any problems. But Thomann is great too and will probably even ship faster...

You can only switch quickly to the next patch. If your two sounds are far apart, you will need a number of clicks to get there.

But you can define or change the order of the patches yourself, also the factory presets, if you want. You will need to use the editor for this however, but its really not hard to do.

Only disadvantage: if you need a lot of different patches for a gig, you better stick to a setlist which was agreed on well before the gig, as you can't change the places of the patches on the fly. Or you could get a midi-setup to quickly switch between any patches.
