Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

I ordered from Barefoot Buttons and their measurements for their largest button is 10mm, which was too small for the FI. I can't remember what the measurement of the FI switch is but 11mm sounds like it would fit. I can get you an exact measurement tomorrow if you would like. Do you have a link to your product?
Oh, just check my signature - thanks for the info, I can add the FI to the compatibility on the 11mm size StompPad if it's accurate.

I'm experiencing something funny with my FI in some presets (37 factory) I play one note mute it and when I play another other note the FI plays the first note and then change to the new one quickly, thats not the case when playing the same note or when using a MIDI keyboard. It gets more notoroius as the distance between notes increases. Any idea whats going on? I tried with the note off and note one and attack and decay parameters in the pedal (haven't tried the editor) but had no luck.

that is "normal". the attack detection and pitch detection are separate on the f.i. this makes it track so fast. the pitch is updated when ready. so a short time you can hear the old note with the new attack. you can go to extremes when playing the highest note on your bass and then the lowest. the lowest takes the longest for the pitch estimate so you will hear the high note for the longest time. since most basslines connect notes not so far away you can usually not hear this.

there are ways around this: use the attack distortion to "mask" the attack sound with a distorted bass signal. this makes the tracking "better" since you always get the right pitch. you will have to fiddle with the controls to get the right sound. keep in mind that some of the presets were optimised for midi use and this was not taken into account.

and some news from andras....

there will be a firmware upgrade shortly with some new features. midi clock thru and a tuner.
but more excitingly there is much going on "under the hood". large parts of the firmware have been rewritten to allow for some cool new stuff. more realtime midi control etc. i will keep you updated...

Thanks for the reply and the clarification, speaking of MIDI I was trying some presets needed in songs for a new band and I found the following problem.
Lets say I have a song where I need to play clean bass in the chorus and synth bass in the verse, I have to bypass the pedal in every change of the song, if I could somehow choose the source of pitch to be ONLY MIDI that would make things easier and I could even play both at the same time. I think this could be useful for other things. Is it possible to program this feature?
Glad theres some updates for the pedal!

i don't fully get what you want to do, sorry. you want to play the f.i. with a keyboard? and have it plugged into the efx chain with your bass efx? or why are you talking about midi only?

you can program a program that simply passes your signal through, without synth sounds if you want. but you can also control the on/off switch via midi, if that is what you want.

Sorry maybe I did´t explain myself correctly. I actually meant if there's a way to play both at the same time, like for example a MIDI bass sequence while playing a clean bass solo. The way it works right now is that whenever the FI detects pitch from the audio input it overrides whatever MIDI notes its receiving and play the notes dictated by the bass. Something like the Priority in the MIDI Block but for the actual source of Pitch (Audio/MIDI).

Edit:
I was just reading the manual and it kinda talks about what I need. This is from the manual (page 9) "Actually FI has internally separate modes for using it with bass or using it through MIDI IN, but it does not require a “switch”. Switching between these modes happens automatically." I need a way to tell the FI that I don't want it to switch.

i see. this is currently not possible. you could make two signal paths and mute the f.i. bass path when you play the midi bass line. and when you play the f.i. with your bass you mute the clean path.

ok, here is a short demo from andras with some of the new control features. he focused on controlling different parameters via the bass dynamics and the internal ad's. some midi control seems possible as well. i have not been able to test this stuff, since there is currently no editor that supports the new routings etc. but this is stuff with great potential i believe.

and here is the track description:

1. Chord; MIDI modulation pedal can tune it between minor and major.
2. Tuning between minor and major is controlled by dynamics of picking.
3. Two oscillators fixed at fundamental and fifth; the third is
controlled in wide range by the dynamics of picking.
4. Two oscillators fixed at fundamental and fifth; the third is
decaying to minor third, controlled by the noise AD envelope.
5. One oscillator fixed at fundamental; the second is decaying to minor
third, the third gliding up to fifth, both controlled by the noise AD
envelope.
6. Same as before, but with additional LFO vibrato.
7. Harmonizer voice2 gliding down through the tuning options (octaves
and fifths), controlled by the noise envelope.
8. Harmonizer voice2 gliding down through the tuning options (octaves
and fifths), controlled by the noise envelope. Harmonizer voice3 gliding up
through the tuning options (octaves and fifths), controlled by the VCF
envelope, which is set slower than the noise envelope.
9. Like 7, but the bass is fading in slowly, controlled by an envelope.

Thank brother...I really like the stuff Andreas is doing with the harmonizer!
