(1) I don't think so, no
(2) They have talked about a major firmware upgrade coming soon, there has been no indication from Panda that there will be a FI 2 in the sense of new hardware, etc. If they upgrade the firmware the way that they have I don't know if we need new hardware. I rehoused mine anyway.

I don't think an FI2 is coming anytime soon. If you can, I'd buy before January. The new firmware comes out then, and if it is as good as advertised, these pedals will sell quickly again.

1) No it does not convert pitch to midi.

2) No idea if there will be an FI2. Question I would ask myself is if you really need it and will utilize it on your gigs? If you’re looking for two or three synths sounds, perhaps this may not be the investment for you. You may be able to get away with a Digi Synth Wah or Zoom MS60b. If your looking at multiple patches, wide variety of synth sounds, which also respond to midi program changes then I would say most definitely yes.

I could not do my gig without it. It is the most essential pedal on my board for my gig. It’s truly a fantastic pedal and perhaps soon to be a phenomenal pedal if they are able to achieve what was discussed for the next firmware upgrade.

I assume it's safe to assume that if I purchase an FI (used or new) that I can update the new firmware when available for free?

I've been craving a DI/FI for almost a decade now. I keep convincing myself that other gear is more important. Just don't know whether to bite the bullet or wait for the latest update to bite the bullet!

Absolutely. All you need is a USB/MIDI adapter, Like the M-Audio Uno, and you have access to firmware updates, as well as the online editor.

All updates so far have been free, there is no indication I've seen that that will change

It’s already an amazing pedal even with the current firmware. I can do so much with it now. The new firmware simply may take it to a whole new level per the developer.

Awesome awesome. I've read most of the thread and remember Andreas speaking of the new update, but I'm unsure of his estimated schedule and am at work so I can't dig through it haha... what's the rough/preliminary/no promises estimated timeframe for the update?

I don't remember a specific estimate from Andras. Someone else here said January, I'm not clear if that was based on direct info or not.

There have been previous updates in the past, just for the record.

Hi guys, after a few weeks of playing direct through the FI I finally got around to trying the editor. I'm new to MIDI and have searched this thread and others, as well as the Apple Audio MIDI support page, but I'm stuck.

I'm using a MacBook pro with High Sierra and a Roland UM-ONE mk2 with the correct driver installed. There seems to be connectivity between the UM-ONE and FI (they're linked in the Utilities Audio MIDI Setup box and lights on the UM-ONE flash on testing). When I mouse click on the editor's piano keyboard in Audio MIDI Setup 'test mode', a single piano tone sounds through the headphone out, but I can't find the FI synth sounds. I've tried plugging my bass in to the pedal but also no sound. I can load patches from the shared drive into the editor and move things around, just no sound!

Is there something simple I haven't got right? Sorry if it's been covered before... a couple of posts with similar questions trailed off without an answer I could find. Any guidance much appreciated :)

Perhaps this is a silly question but Do you have the 1/4” output of the FI pedal hooked up to your amp?
