Had this pedal about 24 hours and it is incredible. Easily the most game-changing pedal I have owned. In that time I already got at least 20 sounds front the user bank that I can use on records. In other words, they sound and sit in the mix like an actual bass synth, and I know this since I was programming bass synth sounds that I needed to match with the FI.
The user patches here are fantastic. I think if someone bought the pedal and did not know about them, they would be losing out in a major way. The stock sounds are not bad, I found 5-6 I could use on a regular basis, but the TB presets have an incredible amount. I may end up with 20-40 useable sounds, which is just a ton for one pedal.
Also, I reached out to Panda since my main issue is what many have brought up - the retriggering where fast envelopes dont retrigger in time for the next note if you play too fast. It is something that I can work around, but of course I had to ask about it. Anyway, I received a prompt reply that in January the new firmware is being released and from how it sounds, the tracking may end up being FAR better than now. Honestly the tracking is already quite good, so this is something I am really excited about.
Been playing through an analogue oct2 for years so learning the technique for this pedal was not too bad for me. I am going to mess with the note on and off setting though. I notice that my old passive Fender P with steels seems to track a little more reliable than my Sadowsky p/j with flats. I play the Sadowsky with the P soloed. I am going to try it in passive and engage both pickups while tweaking note on and off just to see what happens. Not sure if flats are better than steels for this pedal, but in my experience flats usually provide a more solid signal in to a pitch detecting device. I think maybe using it in active mode with the pre engaged may cause some issues - not sure yet. It is nothing crazy but I’d like to use the Sadowsky so when I go clean I still have that more modern tone paired with flats, as that’s my favorite clean tone right now.
It is pretty cool to play this pedal with a 70’s P bass though. It just looks “right” when playing old school 80’s funk patches. Lol.
