I made a listing of my favorite patches (39 in total) to reference and I used about 10 of them throughout the jam and they were all perfection. There was no need for anything else. In that way the Matryoshka was outshined.

I had such a breadth of sounds to work with that things never got boring and each new sound was a delight to the other guys I jam with. The only issue was navigating between patches is really clunky and easy to click past what you are looking for...that and referencing my cheat sheet to find a sound took me out of the moment quite a bit. I feel that once I set up my sound banks in a way that makes it intuitive for me, this thing is gonna be a game changer for me.

Wow you are pretty aggressive. I stuck with 4 patches on Saturday night. I really need to sit down and take good notes on my favorite patches.

The next step would be to get into the editor and move them all to one bank. Switching banks is a bit of a PITA especially if your being spontaneous.

Personally, I think all of the Deep Impact emulation patches (1-9) are pretty good in their own way, then there's a handful of higher numbered ones that are interesting.

It can Certainly send midi pc to change patches on the FI as that's what I use it for.
But to my knowledge a helix can't output midi cc from the expression pedal. I might be wrong but that's my understanding.

Is there any way to transfer all the presets from the pedal to my computer?
Have downloaded from the shared folder and edited bunch of those presets to my liking
and transfered to the pedal.
The comp. crashed. so i really need to be able to transfer them back from the pedal.

I went through all 99 and gave a comment/note and a rating between 1 - 3. These were my 3s. I was a bit generous on some of them as I figured Id whittle them down further as I go along and integrate user created patches. I am still going through the user library and rating them...I definitely liked a LOT of the user generated stuff (some will need to be normalized before loading).
Here were the presets I liked:

No unfortunately there isn’t at this time. I’ve been requesting this feature for a while now. I would love to be able to do a sysex dump from the pedal into the computer and then import into the editor. Hopefully someday this will happen.

@Andras Szalay do you think this will be a feature at some point? Thanks.

Agree. I lost the files for 2 of my patches and only have them on the pedal. I would love to know that I have a back up and also be able to share them with the community because they work great live.

There is no way for the editor to show the settings of a sound that is already in the pedal; The sounds were saved to the pedal and then the actual prg files that were used to upload the sounds to the pedal were lost (I have multiple pc's, had one crash, can't find the original file).

Ah ok. So basically pulling up “patch 22” would pull up patch22 from your computer. In this case those files are gone. Yeah that is a shame!

The FI will show 2 hyphens, a number, and the lower right hand led will be flashing when connected to the software. If you activate the pedal while connected to the software by hitting the physical left switch to select a patch then the pedal exits the software link and allows access to the sounds that are saved in the pedals internal memory; if you change patches the software does nothing because the link was broken upon activating the pedal.

Yes, you can scroll through files on a pc with the software while the pedal is linked to the software. If I hit the left switch on the pedal while connected to the software, the software does not change when I access the internal sounds on the pedal. If this is possible with other user's pedals I'd love to find out how to do it...

A few weeks ago my band leader asked if I was willing to take on some bass synth parts. I said sure.
I’ve had my FI for about a year. Early on I browsed the shared patches and took on a few. I have only ever toyed with the FI on my own, not yet with a band, and I never dived too deeply. A week ago I put the FI on my gig board and I’ve been spending a lot of time auditioning patches.

Today I discovered something really cool. The Line 6 Legacy Bass Octaver (HX FX) tracks the output of most of the patches, extremely well. There are many cool sounds in my FI that are simply too bright, lacking in boom, that get a new lease on life with an extended octave down. Now I’m gonna see if I can figure out how to assign a midi command to engage the FI with the same switch as the Bass Octaver. I love this thing.

I too find a lot of patches lacking in bass. I usually fix it with a tweak to the on board EQ which I find works very well!! But I will try the hx octaver too :)
