Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

Another taster of the V3. Just a little fun with the new flexi mod with the new square LFO. Play a few low notes on the bass and there is an 80s octave synth bass line.

Questions:
* Is there MIDI clock sync for the LFO rate with beat divisions programmable?
* Is the LFO able to be triggered instead of run-on?

If we have clock sync to set a specific bpm, and have the LFO reset and triggered with our playing, then we can realistically have a quality beat synced LFO that starts on the right beat (assuming we play on the right beat) and be properly synced to the song. For example, try playing that same line with drums in the background and syncing your bass line with to the drum beat so your note is fully audible on the 1, and the LFO drops on the 2, up on the 3, drops on the 4, up on the 1, etc. all in perfect sync.

One of the special LFOs (with triangle, saw and square waveforms) for the flexi modulation is free running the other is triggered. This preset and demo was made with the triggered one. Just right now there is no midi clock sync capability but it is not ruled out.

Super fun, but not very practical without the ability to tap-tempo or MIDI clock so it works musically. Hope that makes it in there.

Hmm..I actually like my LFOs running free so I should be good. Lots of reasons to use both of course, but I have really gone away from perfectly synced sound on everything. Also matters what you are trying to do with the sound as well.

Sounds great!! Are you controlling the LFO speed with an expression pedal?
No, the noise envelope (an AD envelope) controls the LFO speed. The mod wheel brings the effect in and out and can be controlled via a foot pedal. (Though what you suggest can also be easily done.)

Oh man, this is killer. Are you using a pedal as a mod wheel to get that LFO to do the vibrato?

If you mean the first two sounds, I actually used aftertouch. This can be assigned to a Hot Hand or other midi controller. Or the patches could be tweaked to change this to mod wheel/expression pedal.

Yeah, I feel like it would make most sense for me if I used a foot pedal. I love having vibrato, and on my bass of course I just use my fingers for it, and on a synth I use a mod wheel. Probably the easiest. Way to do it I would imagine.

I have realised a slight flaw in my approach. I’ve generally assigned cool modulations to the mod wheel but for anyone using the FI without midi, mod wheel value will default to 127 which means the modulation will always be present. In some cases that’s OK (where I’ve created patches which morph between two distinct sounds) but where there’s heavy pitch vibrato this could be undesirable to have on constantly.

I played these on keyboard but they work on bass. I use a Source Audio Hub with an expression pedal to send CC1 (Mod wheel).

+1, nice work @Quatschmacher. Makes me want to get a MIDI keyboard! Out of curiosity, which one are you using to control the FI?

Really looking forward to digging into the new editor. I'm 50/50... part of me that wants to convert my current patches to the new format, but there's also a part of me that just wants to start over. Guess I'll see how I feel when the new editor finally hits. :)

I’m using a Moog Subsequent but it’d be fine with something like a Keystep.

There’s no reason why you can’t do both. In fact, some of these patches are tweaked versions of my older ones. The new options can improve them.
