Future Impact now available!! WAS: deep impact reissue!!! interested?

Patch Number 10 - Now that's what I'm talking about! :D

That thumpy attack will bring synth bass grooves to life - especially in a busy mix......Thank You

Another method is to use a pick. I've done this successfully with the old firmware. It's not exactly a DX7, but it is punchy.

With the additional features ver 3 offers, if for some reason it falls short on punchiness for you, I would definitely try incorporating a pick and some compression.

Or just plug it into a keyboard controller!

My main hope for The V.3 update is for a software "punch knob/slider".

Every bass synth I've ever heard, has the ability to increase the punch/pluck of the initial attack so that each note has more 'impact'.....(no pun intended).

The Future Impact is amazing but, as it stands, you cannot convincingly create punchy/plucky synth bass patches.

This feature would be incredible if it were possible?...

Listen to the punch/attack of this to hear exactly what I'm talking about! 00:09 to 02:30 Seconds

Try the latest couple I’ve uploaded (“Midnight Start”). In number 3 I added some noise for a subtly more percussive attack.

A little selfie shot from the gig on Saturday night, just for fun. Basically against the wall, not much space to move at this one! FI was a win though, as always.

Sorry if this has been asked already. I have not gotten around to updateing the firmware on my FI yet, or to updated the editor. I have a bunch of custom patches that I use from the FI share file on my pedal, as well as most of the factory patches. I assume all of my patches will still work if I upgrade to the new firmware? Will they sound any different? Thanks in advance.

They’ll all work as normal.

I haven't updated yet either. I'm thinking about doing it this holiday weekend. Is everything available or is the latest stuff still beta? I remember something about perhaps the editor being in beta but that we can use it with the new firmware? I'll go back a dozen pages and re-read, but if anyone can summarize the latest status of the firmware/editor.

The short version is that there were firmware and software updates with some functionality improvements as a bridge to the more massive updates (3.0) that are still to come.

I just got a MIDI Bluetooth adapter and am TouchOSC enabled. Got it primarily to build presets and experiment w some Meris pedals, but thinking this could be great for the Future Impact as well. Before I go off and (re???)invent the wheel and build a TouchOSC template...has anyone done that already? If not, where can i find the most comprehensive up to date MIDI details? The user guide still the latest and greatest?

Went to update and I'm getting communication errors. When I am connected to the editor, I can load a patch and play the keyboard in the editor, but can't get the update to work through the editor or the site (on the site, I can't get my MIDI ports to show as selectable options...I just see blank boxes and hence cannot move forward). I'm sure it's something goofy on my end, but kinda frustrating. I'm using an IK Multimedia iRig DUO which is what I have used in the past with success. This laptop is different though. :/ I'll keep at it...but if anyone has any tips or suggestions that I'm probably overlooking, I'm all ears!

Make sure you have chrome set to allow midi communication with the updater web page. Then all should be good.

I did all of that. Without that I was unable to select OK to move forward. It seems that windows sees the iRIG DUO but the MIDI ports are not taking somehow. MIDI out through computer to iRIG works since I can play the editor keyboard...but I get communication errors so I'm thinking one way of the MIDI is problematic. More investigation is needed. Hoping I don't need an additional interface

Ah ok.
FWIW I had the same issues when updating the firmware through chrome. It is buggy. And yet, like you, my midi device was communicating just fine with the editor.
I don’t think it’s your midi device because if it was then it wouldn’t work with the editor.
I had to keep trying over and over with chrome. PiTA. I think I cleaned out my cookies on the browser too as well. Eventually I got it to work, and I’m not totally sure why. I do no one reason was allowing chrome to access midi. If you didn’t clear cookies, try that too.

Good luck.

Looks like I’m going to get one of these soon. Having trouble deciding where to get it from though. I want to get it direct from the Panda Midi website, since they seem to have the best price and I would be supporting them directly, but does TNT still charge a $30 “convenience” fee for importing to the US when buying directly from them like they did a couple of years ago? If so, that could be a deal breaker for me.

I've ordered two Impacts now directly from Panda (wanted to have a 2nd/backup), and neither had a $30 convenience fee on it. You'll initially get a VAT charge, but @Gabor_Gerenyi will refund that for you if you're outside of Europe. Even if TNT (looks like a subsidiary of Fedex?) does charge, it'd totally be worth it.
