No.
Did you write the 99 v3 factory patches to the pedal at the point you updated? If you don’t flush the v2 patches out of memory, you can get some weirdness.

Mine was still V1 before I did anything. I did the Chrome update first, which does load in the V3 sound set. But after I noticed the popping I went back and did a manual upload through the editor and uploaded the sounds again and everything seemed to work. The pedal works great and the sounds are great/better, I just would like to do away with the popping.

Does this happen when you just have the FI as the only pedal in your chain? Could you record and post a clip to illustrate what’s happening?

Here's a vid of the FI as the only thing in the chain, at all. Here's what happens in the video
- 3 clicks of the bypass switch while the pedal is off and NOT connected to amp. No audible noises other than the switch itself
- Powering on the pedal. You hear the first click as the 2 lights come on, a 2nd click when the display reads 3.03
- turning the pedal on and off, you can hear the audible click each time. Compare to the switches at the beginning of the video with no click.
- I connect the pedal to the amp
- Powering on, you hear a loud pop, another loud pop as the display reads 3.03. These loud pops correspond with clicks you hear when the pedal isn't connected
- Turning the pedal on and off, you hear the pop each time

Any help is greatly appreciated! I love this pedal and look forward to getting this bug fixed.


Edit: FWIW the pedal is being powered by MXR Iso-Brick

The click is the sound of the relay engaging and is completely normal.

Powering on a pedal after the amplifier has been switched on is likely to cause an audible pop on many products which is why instructions in amp manuals usually say to power the amp on last when setting up and power it off first when tearing down.

I notice you had nothing plugged into the input. Is there any change when you have an instrument connected?

Is the supply giving at least 100mA with no daisy chaining going on?

Do you get similar results when swapping out cables and/or using a different amp?

This, I understand. Powering on the pedal into a powered on amp was mostly to show you the clicking I was talking about, which is over powered by the signal pop. There isn't any powering on/off in the show, so this is not technically a problem.

No daisy chaining here. I use MXR Iso Bricks to power my board and everything has it's own isolated power. FWIW, I have also had the same result using EHX and D'addario power supplies.

No daisy chaining here. I use MXR Iso Bricks to power my board and everything has it's own isolated power. FWIW, I have also had the same result using EHX and D'addario power supplies.


I've tried different cables, and I've tried on an Aguilar Tonehammer and an old B-15 and had the same result every time.

OK, I’m a bit stumped. I tested the latest firmware and didn’t get these results. However, my FI is in a chain. I’ll try it on its own to see if it changes anything.

EDIT - you’re not on the latest version - download and install the v3.04 firmware file manually from this page:

Hello stu Ford. I think this could possibly be a problem with the pedal itself.
Are you familiar with soldering? If yes you could try to short cut the foot switch by a high value resistor (1MOhm). Then the noise normally should be away. If you are in Europe I could send you some resistors.

Thanks for the offer but sadly, I know nothing about soldering, and am located in USA.

has anyone had a hard time registering for the FI sharing site? I never get the confirm email and thus cant download any patches


got my FI for xmas and love it. I think its way better for me than the c4 altho I do like the c4 as an envelope filter and octaver

that did happen to me once during testing where there was a significant delay. Try again with the same email address/username and if it says “already in use” then contact panda. Let me know what you want to download in the meantime and I can probably just DM you the (some of) the files as they are small.
