Looking at the pic Sunbeast posted... it depends.

I'm interested in the smallest one, placed in the back row of my board, but then I'd want to build myself a remote 1590A foot-switch at the front of the board. Ultimately I wouldn't save much space overall, but placement would be optimised and I always seem to need every blinkin' millimetre I can scrounge.

If you're using a remote MIDI switcher for patches that's already on your board anyway... beaucoup de savings.

Yeah it really depends on your board layout- if you are just using a smaller board a single row of pedals like a Pedaltrain Nano or similar then it won't really help much (unless you were to orient the new enclosure sideways maybe), but on a larger pedalboard with multiple rows of pedals it could cut the footprint nearly in half (particularly in the non-footswitching enclosure).

I can't speak to those who had a bad experience but certainly seems like @GisserD is back on the map and organized and ready to rock. When I ordered, activity and organization looked the same as now and I got mine quickly and got great support when I couldn't find a piece that got stuck in the envelope. It's a really wonderful product and if you are considering it jump at it now when it's ready to go!

I've been trying to update the firmware to 3.5 with a 2015 MBP running Catalina, but it gets stuck with the on light blinking. I've tried two different USB to MIDI adapters. Any ideas?

OK, it looks like the USB to MIDI cables are not supported. I'll try using an interface with MIDI ports. Weirdly, this all worked last year and I can load programs back and forth, I just can't update the firmware.

Gigs are on the horizon!

is your interface driver up to date?

When you say it worked last year, do you mean you were able to perform firmware updates? Updates are more data-heavy than transferring patches. My Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 copes with patches but baulks at updates.

Get a Roland UM-One MK2 and be done with it.

You’ll need to turn it on in each patch and resave. Or you can use MIDI to switch on and off. It’s not documented in the manual but the full MIDI implementation was shared here by @Andras Szalay a while ago. I might add that info to a future revision of the manual but it’s a lot of extra work on top of what I’ve been doing recently to put it into a neat format. I’ll see.

Yes, clock will be recognised from your DAW.

Thanks for the reply. I did the firmware update with a Midiman Uno the last time. But that was several Mac OSs ago.

I'll check out the Roland.

I’ve never had problems with the Roland. The one time it didn’t work on a friend’s Mac was because he hadn’t updated the driver after upgrading to Catalina.
