I did a scan through but I couldn’t find a midi implementation list more recent than 2015 - is that the one you mean, and is it still applicable? Or am I missing a more recent?

@Andras Szalay shared one from 2019. There is actually an even newer version which adds the info about MIDI sync etc. Andras, could you share that here please?

At some point I'll integrate it into the manual but I have loads to do at the moment so haven't got enough time to get a neat version done.

I think I messed something up

I updated to 3.5 and everything was amazing. Sounded fantastic. Then, I found the tuner function on accident and tuned up. It was weird because I didn’t think I was out of tune before. After tuning via the FI, tracking got very bad and glitchy.
Haven’t had a chance to try and remedy it yet

Without knowing for certain, since I don't actually own this pedal, I would guess a very minimal amount, since as far as I am aware it would basically just be a bunch of numeric values assigned to specific parameters, so that a patch file would basically just be a list of numbers with a few commands added in form of words and letters.

Hello everyone, it's been a year since I had a problem updating to v3, but I've somehow gotten it to work over the weekend - I used the same interface (Focusrite 2i4 gen1) and it updated this time. I immediately loaded the pedal with @Quatschmacher's patches and oh boy do they sound fantastic!!! :) :) This is excellent programming!!!

Now that it can be controlled with expression pedal via MIDI cc, I have some ideas that will probably cost me too much, but it's been a long time since I was this enthusiastic :). So hear me out:
  • I first wanted to buy some MIDI switcher that will allow me to use the expression pedal with the Future Impact. Then I realized that doesn't make sense to buy something that does 100 things and use it only for one.
  • Then I looked into the expression pedals that send MIDI cc, and found only Source Audio Reflex, which is sadly discontinued.
  • I talked to @DELACIUS today and he mentioned Boss MS-3 - I think this is what would work the best for me because it has three independent loops which I could use for octaver, synth and drive. Inbuilt effects are bonus. But I have a question - will it work with Future Impact? - I need it to switch the presets, and I need to be able to use the expression pedal, nothing else.
    This is probably a question for another forum, but is tuner on MS-3 any good? I've been using TC Polytune for the past 10 years and I still love it.

Glad you have got it working and are enjoying the patches.

The FI has a built-in tuner.

Once you start exploring what the FI can do with MIDI, you may wish to use a more capable controller. I’d honestly look at something like the Morningstar MC3 or MC6. Do you want to be able to control the synth volume, dry volume, use the new sustain feature?

Anything that can send MIDI CC and PC messages on 5-pin DIN cable will work.

I considered that, but FI is not the main part of my setup and, with a small child, I don't think I'll have the time to dive in the deeper options that FI offers any time soon.

The MS3 can only send midi PC messages on a patch change. You can assign CC messages to the buttons within a patch. So if you set up patches on the MS3 and only want one FI patch for each thats fine. If you want to set it up so the buttons can call up different FI sounds within a patch it won't do that. Otherwise is a great piece of kit. The addition effect are very good IMHO (not so much the drives) and the unit is rock solid and easy to program once you get used to it. Tuner was fine as far as I remember. I ended up with an MC6 and a stomp.
