I just recently programmed my MC8 with a few banks of FI patches and I'm in synth heaven. It isn't such a pain to plug in the UM-One but I'll give the thru the MC8 a try.

I remember back in the day some discussion about some unique things you could do with an MC6/8. Something with chords. What was that all about? I'm starting to build out my patches and wouldn't mind experimenting with some ideas.

It’s quite a convoluted idea which took me many hours to figure out to get it where I wanted it. Basically you assign a flexi to each oscillator’s coarse tuning and have a button on the MC8 send out the values that correspond to the pitches you want to use. It’s a fair bit of maths but I took it to the extreme.

It is with great pleasure i will be opening up the Future compact manufacturing line in 2022.

I am humbled by the support that my product has received, and it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to know that they are out there serving a real purpose for giging musicians all over the world to this day.

There have been some supply issues in the past and due to this i will only be offering tracked and insured postage worldwide.

The costs will change both due to the postage requirement and the fact that the raw materials are more expensive now, but i will minimise costs where possible such as batch printing. To this end i will only manufacture when i have minimim 4 orders, so wait times cannot be guaranteed, but i can guarantee a maximum of 6 weeks to postage or its FREE.

More detais to come in the weeks ahead.

For clarity’s sake, do you mean postage is free if it exceeds 6 weeks? Or do you mean the whole order cost? I presume the former but there was a bit of ambiguity in the statement which would be wise to remove.

The wording seems pretty unambiguous - six weeks TO postage or it’s free, which - in the context of waiting for a four device batch - sounds like a commitment to POST it by a certain amount of elapsed time whether or not that amount of orders have accumulated - or charge nothing for the device itself.

In other words, for production efficiency your shipment will wait until a batch of four’s ready - but never at the expense of making you wait longer than a reasonable period (in this case six weeks). Or it’s free.

Which is a commitment I could understand making myself, since a) it’s a generous offer and if I mess up on something I don’t count the cost of putting it right, and b) I therefore only ever make promises like that on things that are within my control.

We are preparing with my group, Panta Rhei for a jubilee concert, performing among others the adaptation of Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt suite together with a 50 person choir. By this occasion I prepared a new „compact” pedal board with all the effects that I use (see the photo). By the way, all the electronic effects on the board were designed by me. The signal path on the board is the following:

BASS audio signal:
Bass guitar->AKAI Unibass->Effect output->ART DTI (isolator to avoid ground loop)->guitar amp for distorted guitar sound;
AKAI Unibass->Bypass output ->FI V3->EH Lester G->Bespeco VM14 volume control->bass amp;

ACOUSTIC GUITAR audio signal:
Acoustic guitar->AKAI Tune Lock->Fishman Aura Spectrum->PA system;

BASS MIDI signal:
MGEAR footswitch->MidiBeam 4Control Jack2->FI: implemented as PROGRAM DOWN for FI;
MGEAR EX-P pedal->MidiBeam 4Control Jack1->FI: implemented as VCF Cutoff for the FI, used to modify some sounds, and as a wah pedal in others;

GUITAR SYNTH MIDI signal:
Wireless MIDI guitar->WGS6000 wireless receiver->synth module (external);
MGEAR EX-P pedal->MidiBeam 4Control Jack1->FI MIDI IN->FI MIDI OUT->WGS6000 MIDI IN: implemented as vibrato pedal for guitar synth;

Hi All! Just wanted to share with the Mac users a quick way to add shortcuts to switch between the Manager and Editor views in the FI Editor program. This has bugged me quite a bit ever since using the program since I'm a fan of shortcuts.

The quick path is: System Preferences->Keyboard->Shortcuts->App Shortcuts->"+" button to the right and below->Application:Choose "FI Editor"->Menu Title: "Editor" ("Manager")->Click "Keyboard Shortcut" box and then type the shortcut you want to use. I chose Command+E for Editor and Command+M for Manager. Makes toggling between the two much faster now. Hope this helps!

I am having problems updating the firmware on my recently acquired FI 1. It currently has 3.03 firmware installed and I'm trying to load 3.60.

The firmware update either hangs on "Loading Update" if I do it via the FI Editor or "Updating" (blinking red) if I try it via the browser-based update (using Chrome). Alternatively I have gotten a "Communication Error" message a couple of times.

The MIDI interface I'm using is a Bespeco BM USB 100, which is on the list of compatible MIDI devices on the support page. The FI Editor seems to recognize the Bespeco as the MIDI in and out device (in MIDI preferences), as does the browser update. The computer (MacBook Pro running Catalina) shows it as a connected USB device as well. The lights on the FI are all blinking appropriately, etc. during the process.

I tried restarting the computer in case that would be helpful, but no change.

The global MIDI setting on the FI is set to "ALL" if that matters. I think all the other global settings on the FI are correct to allow the firmware install to take place (according to the user guide), but I'm not definitely sure about that.

I'm chomping at the bit to be able to use the Editor and load some of the custom patches from Quatschmacher and others, so any help would be appreciated!

Have you definitely got the MIDI cables plugged into the correct ports?

Is the latest driver for the interface installed (if applicable)?

Have you put the pedal into update mode?

When using the browser updater, plug the interface into the computer before launching chrome.

If by update mode you mean holding down both footswitches when powering on (and getting the slow blinking red LED), then yes to all of those except #2. When I get home I’ll see if there is a driver update. It could be a Catalina compatibility issue.
